Beautiful hike through the rain forest, across two beaches, stopped for the macaws and several other birds, arrived at Rio Claro and took a kayak ride up the river with other folks, then on return jumped in the fresh water estuary for a cool refreshing swim! Beautiful!

This was an amazing experience! This family is saving for more than 30 years sea turtles and trying everything in order to avoid losing these amazing animals. In the past few years the numbers are just 20% of what they used to be few years ago. Thanks to this person we still have at least these 20%. When we arrived... More

We only did the 2 hour tour but would go for the longer trip if we go back. However the 2 hour tour is still very good with lots of adventure crammed into a short space of time and we were lucky enough to see 3 Sloths (one at very close quarters) and some Spider Monkeys and Toucans (animals not... We were staying for 3 weeks in Costa Rica and in our final week we arrived @ Drake Bay. We wanted to do the Cano Island tour, however it was already booked. So we decided to go on a nice hike along the coast to visit some beaches and spent the day there. After a small 2 hours hiking we... More

When I read the description of this activity I wasn't really excited. But the climbing up the waterfall was just challenging enough to make it interesting and floating downstream was super relaxing and a great way to experience the forest. My one tip might be - no matter what your guide says don't hike to the river in flip flops.... More

We did the 2 hour tour for $20/pp and it was worth every penny. We were accompanied by Christian, who kayaked us up the Rio Claro which is a crystal clear river. He pointed out a lot of special animals that we hadn't seen because he knows where they like to hang out. Then we swam back in the river... More

Rio Claro Day Tours is nestled along the Osa Peninsula trail where the Rio Claro meets the Pacific Ocean. Ricardo has a truly magical spot amidst the ocean and rainforest. We first visited Rio Claro Day Tours to canoe up the Rio Claro river and climb the waterfall. That alone was a total blast! Johnny was a great river guide.... More

From Finca Maresia (awesome place to stay - both location and staff-wise!!) we went on a beach walk that got to Ricardo's place. Being somewhat skeptical about eco-tours, my girlfriend and i decided to take a canoeing tour along waterfalls with Ricardo, and eventually also witness the hatching of a few turtles (and i was skeptical about the latter as... If you're staying in Drake bay our surroundings make sure to hike towards Rio Claro! It is a beautiful walk with lots of animals. When you get to the river you'll see Ricardo's place. He is a very kind man who dedicates his life protecting marine turtles. These beautiful fascinating creatures are, as you may know, endangered and Ricardo is... More

Walking from Drake Bay to Rio Claro was a beautiful hike!! When my wife and I crossed the river and arrived at Ricardo's place, he took us on a private tour in his canoe up the river. We saw basilisks (one ran on water to shore), capuchin monkeys, and other small creatures. Ricardo took us up the river, and on... More
