We got a tip from a local for a shorter hike. You drive to Tinamastes and follow the signs to Baru waterfall. (Baru and Nuayaca are the same). It is about 7 km on a bumpy road and a steep hike down and then back up but probably only 1 km hike. You buy a ticket at a blue house... More

We opted to do the hike instead of the horseback ride, and so glad we did! We were a bit worried after reading some of the reviews that this 4km each way hike might be difficult, but that was not the case at all. If you are in basic shape, it's just a moderate hike that only takes about an... More

We took the horseback ride to the falls. Horses were fun and healthy. Not the lean slow type you see in other locations. Speedy was my horse for the day. They also supplied breakfast and lunch on this excursion. Awesome food! At the waterfalls, our guides strung up ropes along the falls so that people could climb and jump from... More

What a beautiful waterfall and place to swim. We opted to walk the 2 1/2 mile each way to the falls- it is a lot of uphill but so worth the $8.00 admission fee. Did notice some locals were able to circumvent the fee by cutting thru a yard to get there. It really is a gorgeous destination.

We hiked up to the falls instead of the short horseback ride. The hike was not really difficult if you are in any shape at all. Just don't wear flip flops! Running shoes or hiking shoes/boots are good. Take water and a snack. Go early before the heat of the day and beat the horseback riders there so you can... More

The Waterfalls are very beautiful. We just made one mistake. We walked the whole way while it was hot and very humid. For that you need really good conditions, trust me. We are in good conditions and needed for the 4 km up about 2 hours because it is really steep.

This falls is well worth the hike or horseback ride if you choose that. It is a beautiful falls and the swim in the water is so refreshing after a four mile hike!

You can do this one of two ways, hike it to Nauyaca Waterfalls or do the horse back ride tour to the falls. I did the horse back ride tour. The horse back ride was fun and enjoyable. The guides were patient and easy going. There was no rush to get to the falls. Nauyaca Falls itself was nice and... More

we did this horseback trip to the falls. The falls are spectacular. The horse riding trip was excellent and they even stop along the way for breakfast and on the way back for a real tico lunch ! The food was extremely tasty and a very welcome surprise. Once you get to the falls - the guides show you were... More

Take the horses please......my wife and I tried to hike it with her daughter and son in law......not a good idea for those built for comfort, not speed !! The kids made it and say its magnificent, we got about half way and found a beautiful stream to soak our feet in before heading back !!! The walk is beautiful... More
