Saturday December 13th from 5:00 on, there is a festival at the beach. Starting around 6:30, over 60 boats, all decorated for the holidays with lights and Christmas figures (Santa, Rudolph, etc.), parade around the edge of the beach. Afterward, a spectacular fireworks display goes on. Also, during this time, different groups play holiday music. Luminaries surround the sidewalks. A... More

This is the #2 most visited attraction in Arizona, behind only the Grand Canyon, and that's for a good reason. Basically, every weekend some event is going on. Typically music, some sort of sporting event, or beer/food event. If you are looking for something with a bunch of people in Tempe on a Friday night or Saturday afternoon, there is... More

I come here more for events than to actually walk around and check out the scenery. Came here for John Kerry's campaign party where the Foo Fighters played, truly a great time. Then again for a few beer festivals and music festivals. Well organized, staff is helpful and their set up is on point. Really enjoy spending the day walking... More

Sandy beach like area, pleasant to watch the college women play beach ball..... reminds you of a beach town yet stuck right in the middle of a dessert...... kind of nice considering the blazing summer heat in the cooler months of feb and march..... nice place to relax..... highly recommended for families, solo travelers.... or simple explorers.....

Surprising find in the middle of urban sprawl. Well maintained and near downtown Tempe which offers a large variety of dining experiences.

This is the only place that I go for a run while I am in town. Depending on the route you take, you can have run lengths of roughly 3.15, 3.75 or 5.65 miles per loop. After you determine your preferred route, you can add additional loops as necessary to reach your goal for the day. There are some elevation... More

We stumbled upon this little gem while touring the Tempe area. What a wonderful, relaxing place by the river. We went there several times during our trip to walk & enjoy the tranquility. There is a splash area for the kids with sprinklers to keep them cool. We walked all the way from the free parking lot to the end... More

We had a blast here for a couple of hours. It is located in a nice Tempe neighborhood, close to businesses, restaurants and ASU. We rented a tandem kayak for an hour. The water was refreshing considering it was midday and 100 degrees! The water is clean and not overcrowded. There are places to boat as well. There were a... More

I've been to Tempe Beach Park for family celebrations as well as for numerous charity walks. It's kind of a baffling place, really. The restrooms are nearly always locked. There are few benches or picnic tables from which to enjoy the view of the water. For a park in the desert, there is remarkably little shade and few drinking fountains.... More
