Most military museums are kind of hokey. This one is excellent in how it explains the history of the fort and the area.
The Fort Huachuca Museum was well done with displays unfolding the history of the Fort from its beginnings. Although on a military installation, this museum is well worth the visit by its professional displays and interpretive panels.
Four of us visited the museum today and were all amazed at how beautifully done the exhibits are and how we all enjoyed it equally. We expected to spend an hour and didn't leave for almost three hours, reading every bit of information and watching the movies. They've made what could have been really dry material into something fascinating.
After reading the other reviews, I'd say they are somewhat accurate. Entrance to the base is easy; a map will be provided which you definitely will need. To put the other comments into perspective, this is a military base. It's commendable they make the museum, the annex, and the intelligence museum available to the public -- as well as the... More
For history buffs, the fort's old parade ground, adobe quarters and museum are a worthy stop. The fort's beginnings go back to 1877 and the days of the wild west.
The museum and the area of Fort Huachuca in which it is located are seemingly locked into another time period. We enjoyed learning about the history of Ft. Huachuca, the area and the Buffalo soldiers. The museum and Ft Huachuca to be worth a visit.
This was our first visit to the Fort and was a very pleasant surprise. Quiet and peaceful with wonderful views. The 3 museums were very informative and interesting.
This is such a treat - especially if you enjoy the feeling of being transported through time! The museum and the area of Fort Huachuca in which it is located are seemingly locked into another time period. The displays elicit emotional responses, and for me, patriotism and pride!
Had never been on the Fort before, and what a excellent surprise. This is one beautiful place. The grounds are so well kept, views are awesome, and yes the museums are really informative. If you get the chance, make sure you visit, it is well worth it. Also birding in Garden Canyon and Huachuca Canyon is a big plus. Could... More
This museum is well done and informative. It's well laid out, and on the beautifully preserved grounds of Fort Huachuca. A great day trip for the whole family. There are actually 3 museums in all, an historic cemetery, and a great canyon with ancient rock art to drive through if time allows.
