There are a few who rate this road poorly and it is laughable as they don't really get it. This like many roads in Arizona are considered "primitive", which means it is maintained to be passable, not for the comfort or ability of your Camry or minivan. There are many roads people in these cars can travel, but they should... More

We completed the drive from Sedona to the I-17 freeway on our way home from our weekend in Sedona. The views while driving up and from the scenic view point are incredible and it is a great viewpoint into the red rocks and city. While we were able to complete the drive in our AWD Subaru Forester I would not... More

This route is not safe for non-professional trained personnel to travel in any vehicle except a 4 wheel truck . I have been visiting Sedona for the last 15 years and every time I go I always travel that road. This time was not safe, due to no road work up keep it is not maintained and can be very... More

This trail was an old cattle trail used by ranchers to move their cattle to summer grazing at the top of the mountain. Now it is used by the public to get into the high desert to observe the marvelous rock formations and the desert flora and fauna. It is not for the faint of heart, requiring a high clearance... Calling this road a road is a real stretch. It hasn't been maintained in years. Some locals will tell you it is passable. Don't believe them--it isn't or barely so if you have a high enough suspension, huge tires or tank tracks. Yet I was astounded at the number of two wheel vehicles attempting to travel this route between I-17... More

Thinking this was just an unpaved road, started up this 8-mile in our rented Jeep to appreciate scenic views of the red rocks. 2.5 miles up, we turned around. The road is filled with sharp large rocks. At each turn in the road, we thought the ride would smooth out. When it was clear that wasn't going to happen, we... More

Views are wonderful. Unable to stay long on this day, but a jeep tour can take you there if you don't want to drive and they provide terrific info and give you plenty of time for pictures.

We are experienced in off roading and did it on our own Jeep, very happy we did. Easy ride even if it's your first time off roading. As you wind through you come across great views that you won't see from any where else. Make sure you take a camera! When you get to the top I suggest instead of... More

I do this drive every time I go to Sedona and it never fails to amaze me. Beautiful views, but make sure you have a high clearance vehicle!

I did this trail in my own Jeep and was not disappointed! I had my Arizona Backroads Trail book with me and it was rated as an easy trail for stock vehicles. I made it through without any problems and my guest from Milwaukee got to experiece Sedona without the commercial Jeep tour fees. Great scenery and a little excitement.
