This was a beautiful 4 mile walk, and part of the trail still had snow on it. We were comfortable in sweatshirts and light jackets. You do cross the creek several times, and have to keep your eyes open for the crossings. The water was high because of the snow melt recently. Would not recommend for kids under 8. It... More

Check out the fall colors while on this trail and I know you will not be disappointed. This is also the best trail when it is very hot during the summer. The deciduous leaves provide lots of coolness.

This is apparently a very busy trail but we only saw one other person on our hike in this trail in 8 inches of snow. It was beautiful in the snow.

We visited this trail in February and although I could tell it would be gorgeous in the warmer months we were kind of dissapointed that we couldn't hike more than a mile into the trail. It was totally covered in snow and we were sliding around trying to hike it, we were unable to cross the first stream because the... More

The West Fork of the Oak Creek is a lovely walk - about six miles round trip - that is mostly level walking; although there is the odd occasion when a small scramble is required to negotiate the rocks. Much of it is shaded, which is really good in the hot weather. There are some really good views, quite few... More

This trail is not too difficult and crosses the creek about 14 times. It is great when the creek isn't too high, but would be more difficult after a rain storm during spring melt. Lots of forest cover, so a good hot weather choice.

This was beautiful and wonderful. We had children with us, and arrived late afternoon the end of November, so it was cool and we couldn't stay too long or hike in too far. But it was worth every minute we spent there. Absolutely beautiful. Anyone traveling to the Phoenix area, or planning to visit the Grand Canyon, I would encourage... More

Our family did the first 5-6 miles of this hike last summer, setting out about 10:00 a.m. on an August morning. It was a hot day overall -- mid-to-upper 90's -- but the creek valley and the shade trees make this a somewhat cooler and more pleasant walk. You do have to cross the stream many, many times -- I... Hiked to the end and back 03 Jan and wouldn't have made it without the right equipment. You have to cross the creek multiple times on icy rocks and small trees. Took us about 2 1/2 hrs to cover the 7 miles but it was quite cold which motivated us to move quickly. However, we only ran into three or... More
