Asked for a table outside and was given one right next to a solo diner with his huge German shepherd sited right next to us. We left. Ambiance inside mediocre

I highly recommend making this journey. But be ready- there are hairpins sans guardrails. All the way to 7000 feet up. As my companion so vividly remarked, "it's a real butt-clencher." At the top, there is a rest station with Native Americans selling some truly beautiful items. Buck up and do it.

One place you need to see and tour is the Oak Creek Vista Overlook. In fact, if it is fishing season you also need to catch and release one of those beauties. The road way is a bit narrow so really try keeping your eye on the road and the other on the scenery.

This is a perfect spot to stretch your legs and look at the winding road you have just come up or are about to go down. Easy access and plenty of parking for this overlook with great vistas. There are vendors selling hand made crafts along the walkway which is an added bonus if you are looking for some reasonably... More

Beautiful, beautiful overlook! Ample parking, and clean outhouses. A ranger is on the premises at the gift shop. Well-worth the stop.

Unfortunately this was about the only area along Hwy 89A through Oak Creen Canyon that was open to stop at (due to potential flooding as a result of a fire earlier this spring). Easy on/off access and lots of parking, it was a great place to get out and see the canyon and stretch our legs. There were a few... More

We used this a stop off point on our way to the Grand Canyon and were not disappointed by the great views in all directions

From this vista overlook, you can see the canyon for many miles, mostly to the south. The dropoff from the overlook is straight down, so it is foreshadowing of what awaits you in the Grand Canyon National Park. There is an interesting assortment of native Americans selling jewelry and other tourist-oriented items. It's also a nice break from the sometimes... More

This overlook is well worth the stop if you are driving down from Flagstaff...be warned, it gets very crowded during tourist season...the "Indian Market" is really not that much UNLESS you are a "newby" to Native American crafts...then it could be interesting.
