As an East coast girl, I was expecting a typical snooty jazz and blues club with lots of tables and a traditional band where everyone would sit, listen and clap when they were supposed to. I was quite surprised to find out that the club was packed with friendly people, but also that they were not only watching, they were... More

Going to Arizona when you live in Missouri and going to a "Blues Club" can be a big disappointment. For me Char's has the Blues was an overcrowded bar with live music. The music was ok but not worth the admission price. All I can really say about this place is that it was wall to wall people. Getting a... More

GREAT band, Soul Power cozy (crowded) with amazing diversity to dance to the wonderful sounds of a LIVE band, Soul Brothers! If you are someone who loves to dance in the company of amazing diverse individuals in a city location, this is your place. You feel a strong sense of community with shoulder to shoulder adults!

Chars isn't fancy, spacious, or chic..what it is is a great bar for dancing shoulder to shoulder to classic R&B and blues. Prepare to sweat a bit, make friends, and get down to some great live music.

Too bad I didn't know about this place before! After 2-1/2 years in Phoenix, on the eve of leaving this town for good, I find a place with live music, a diverse crowd and an atmosphere usually found in New York or Chicago. Had a completely unexpected good time this Sunday night.

It was our first time to Char's last night and we had a fun time dancing to live music with George Bowman and Baddboyz band! Friendly host and waitresses, diverse people and ages there. All around good time! Small dance floor. No food served. Cover charge for a Sat night. Overall friendly, cozy atmosphere. We will definitely go back.

We were in Phoenix for a weekend trip and made a last minute decision to check out Char's when looking for live music on a Sunday night. It was a fun crowd and a very diverse group. Not a bad place to come grab a drink and listen to some music but getting out on the packed dance floor is... More

Wanted to dance and that we did, why every one dances. Diverse crowd many dressed to the nines but movin and groovin. The Soul Tones suited up with the finest of soul spiced with audience interaction. There was a party goin on right there, we swayed, we sweated, and we moved to the groove! This is big city style in... More

My husband and I were in Phoenix for one night before flying back home to Tel Aviv. We wanted to sample the night life so gave this place ago. It was so fun!! Everyone is welcome at Char's. We saw people of every religion, sexual orientation, race and age. We paid a $2 cover charge as it was a Thursday... More
