We had a good time, and the 45 minute tour went quickly. Our guide was great, it was just my family of 5 and I still felt we were getting the same quality as a larger group would have received. Not much else is out there on old route 66 but well worth the stop in my opinion. We had... more

Our guide was named "Bill"... I don't know if he was having a bad day or if it was the end of a long week for him...but he let us know point blank, that any questions were HIGHLY DISCOURAGED... and he also told us that if we asked "too many" questions, the tour would end abruptly. He very indignantly added... more

While it isn't an active cave, it is interesting and our guide was very informative. The tour isn't for anyone who has difficulty walking steps though. It is a 45-minute tour and worth the admission price. Go, and enjoy. more

We went on the 10am Caverns Tour on 4/15 as part of our 10 day San Simeon/Grand Canyon/Las Vegas road trip. We checked out of the Grand Canyon Caverns Inn and drove down the road about a mile to the Caverns Building. We arrived about 10 minutes early and paid for our tickets. The price is regularly $15 a person,... more

The Grand Canyon Caverns are not as big as I expected. But it was still pretty interesting. I've always gone to "living" caves, that are still growing due to water still running through them. This cave is a "dry" cave, formed by lava flows - the temperature is a constant 56 degrees, there is no humidity. There are some interesting... more

Grand Canyon Caverns was pretty cool , a neat side trip down old Route 66 from Seligman , Arizona ! Jerry our guide was a sort of cowboy looking character from Yakima , Washington originally , Knew his facts pretty well ... I would have loved to have seen the entrance they had planned in the 1950's though!! It was... more

The other reviews give a good desccription of the caverns, but on my trip the elevator was grossly overloaded and failed twice during the descent. The attendant commented that this happened frequently due to the overload relays being"weak".The remedy was to call the surface on a handheld radio and hope for a reply by the cash desk, who then would reset the relays.Perhaps... more

While making our way, on Route 66, from the Grand Canyon to Las Vegas, we stopped for the one hour tour of the Grand Canyon Caverns. Being a dry cavern, it is nothing like the obvious, and more well known, grandeur of Carlsbad Caverns (in New Mexico) where you see the stunning stalactites and stalagmites. However, a visit to the... more

I visited the Grand Canyon Caverns over 15 years ago for the first time. This last visit on 09/03 reminded me of the first. Nothing has changed except for maybe the price. Very informative and entertaining tour throughout the cavern as guides make you walk through the windy trails. Beware of the longer trail as this has some steeper walkways. more

On our way from the Grand Canyon to Kingman (and Vegas) we took a detour down Route 66 to the Grand Canyon Caverns (it had been recommended by several people). Turns out this stretch of Route 66 is pretty barren, with just a few little towns here and there and the Grand Canyon Caverns are kind of in the middle... more
