Kayaking on Patagonia Lake

Spent a lovely day kayaking on Patagonia Lake. Scenery on drive from Tucson (about 1 3/4 hour drive) was beautiful.

Patagonia State Park costs $15.00 to get in which seems a bit pricey for what you get. It is a smaller lake with a nice beach area, and okay bathrooms. The water is refreshing a hot day, and it is fun to sit on the beach under an umbrella, but I wasn't overly impressed by this lake. The roped off... More

Go in the early morning before it gets too hot. At the far right side of the campground is a trailhead which will take you around the right side of the lake. We found nesting Vermillion Flycatchers and much more! Very relaxing.

Haven't been to Patagonia Lake in many years - was packed the day we went (Saturday in August). $15 charge for access during weekends - expensive for nothing. Was not impressed with the lake area and facilities. Not as good as I remember - probably would not return. The campsites we saw were very primitive. Some folks we knew camping... More

My wife and I visited here a week ago. I was impressed by the birding opportunities. I especially liked the "Birder's Trail" east of the lake through the riparian forest of Fremont cottonwoods and sycamores with fringes of mesqiute. I managed a couple of lifers here, a Black-capped Gnatcatcher and a Rufous-winged Sparrow, my wife got good looks at a... More

There are only three decent size lakes close to Tucson. Parker,Arivaca & Patagonia. As for Arivaca, don't eat anything you catch there. That"s just my advice. Parker, I wouldn't go again. Then there's Patagonia. The lake is beautiful , campground and picnic areas are well kept and the bathrooms are clean. The fishing isn't great but it's not bad and... More

I set out on Friday with my little Yorkie for what was to be her first camping trip ever and my first in about 20 years. Patagonia Lake State Park was perfect! The campground was clean, the bathrooms and showers were well maintained and the views were amazing. The lake is beautiful and quiet in the mornings. The stars at... More

Spent the day at this great park. Came down from Tucson (short 90 minute drive) if you haven't been this section of southern Arizona is quite beautiful and green! Lake wasn't crowded so very calm and perfect for kayaking. Day campsites are spacious and clean this is a wonderful day trip

I liked that they had covered picnic areas even handicaped individuals could get to. The area was clean. They had clean bathrooms. There were many choices on using lake like RV, camping, picnic, boating and walking.

Nice little lake and well maintained state park, but the fishing was horrible! Only caught one fish after 8 hours of torture.
