We took the boat trip to see the sea lions, birds and lighthouse in the beagle channel. We were on one of the large boats, and I would have much preferred a much smaller boat. Though not high season, it was very crowded, making it harder to see, and the passengers took out their frustration at not being able to... More

A navigation on the beagle channel is not to be missed! We saw many sealions, fur seals, cormorants and other birds.

The catamaran boat we took was OK, jammed with passengers and the trip became worthwhile when we arrived at the various islands in the channel with seabirds, seals and of course-Penguins. The boat backed and turned so all on deck could get views. There is no disembarking on the boat trips.

Super cruise from Punta Arenas to Ushuaia on board the Stella Australis. Good food, great guides, spectacular glaciers, bird life, and a visit to Cape Horn. Navigated through the Beagle channel and the straits of Magellan.

Our recent cruise on the Stella Australis was fantastic. The scenery between Ushuaia and Punta Arenas was magnificent. The boat was very comfortable. Our cabin (AAA) was very large, clean and had plenty of storage. The excursions off the boat were terrific. Excellent guides and small groups. The informative programs were given separately in Spanish and English and the small... More

The whole cruise is 10am - 1:30pm. I went alone and other guests are French, Canadian, German etc. I am the only Asian representative. The guide spoke English and Spanish. It's a nice cruise and I enjoy it. But do bring more clothes as it's quite chilly after a long stay on the upper deck. Fortunately there was tea time... More

As you ave Ushuaia toward Antarctica, the seas are smooth and calm. But this is the Beagle Channel which is the calm before the storm of Drakes Passage where the waves often exceed 40 feet high. Enjoy this short respite as you head to Antarctica. Be advised to take that seasick pill now.

If you have been to Torres del Paine or El Calafate it will not look very impressive although you will get very close to seals and penguins.
