It is a magic glacier and a good place for taking a walk. Everything about Ushuaia is magic and the pathway that take you to the base of the glacier is a nice not too steep way, I am not a fitness person and could make it, although I had to do it slowly. Relax because if you get tired... More

How many times have you heard, "Get out of here, get lost, take a hike". We'll only the last statement is true here on the Martial Glacier. The trail is well marked, so you can't get lost here. We took the hike in December, which is summer in Patagonia. Depending on your level of determination or peer pressure, you can... More

This is a great outing from Ushuaia. We got a taxi from our city centre hotel and it was 80-90ARP. The chair lift was not working. We walked to the point just above the top of the chair lift. We didn't carry on further as we had a three year old with us and the weather got a bit wild!... More

I was advised of the benefits of breathing the air coming off the glacier and I certainly slept well that night. I didn't venture far and just poked about close to the end of the chairlift but getting close to the trees and the ground in this area was enjoyable. And very calming. I didn't spend any money at the... More

A must! If you like to walk, you should do it. Get wam clothes and take a taxi from Ushuaia city to the entrance of the Martial Glacier. There you have a place to have warm drinks and a bit, if you want. As you look up it might look very steep, but it is only the begining, as it... More

The scenery at the top of the Glacier was beautiful. The hike, rather challenging for me as it is all up hill. Much easier for the twenty something with us!

Don't expect to see any ice - the "glacier" is tiny and was covered in snow when I was there, so unless you have never seen snow in your life (which you probably have when you end up in Ushuaia) it isn't any special. However, the valley below is beautiful, and you get a nice view on the Beagle Channel.

We had a wonderful hike to the second mirador at the Martial Glaciar. On the way up, we took the path along the water stream and came down the main path. The path along the water is definitely more picturesque and beautiful. The gradient also is less steep. We couldn't go all the way to the snow point of the... More

This is a really tough climb if you go to the top and walk on the glacier We decided to stop about 3/4 of the way up but the views and scenery were still fantastic The small cafe at the chair lift station serves good hot chocolate and cakes - your reward for your for all of the effort!
