We packed a lunch and took a $10US taxi form town up to the trailhead. Its offers ski runs in winter and hiking in summer. Took us 2 hours to get to the glacier, and its a moderate hike. Going to the top of the trail can be hard for those not in shape, but you can stop and return... More

Loads of people here. It is quite a walk up, but nothing too difficult. Good views of ushuaia and the beagle channel. The glacier itself is not really spectacular. Get there either by taxi or hike next to the road (about 10km)

The walk wasn't too bad and it certainly wasn't challenging to get up there. Once you get towards the top, you'll see the glacier and don't expect pretty white snow/ice on top. It's dirty but still a sight worth seeing!

It's interesting to be able to walk to a glacier during the summer, but that's about it... You don't have a view of the city. Wouldn't do it again, although it's free and of easy access.

We took a taxi to the bottom of the hike. There used to be a chairlift to take you to the base of the glacier, but it was not working. It's a fairly tough, steep hike, but the road is good (gravel). Beautiful surroundings and a great view of Ushuaia as you go up. We met a family from Rio... More

I only had one full day in Ushuaia and the tourist office recommended the hike to Martial Glacier. I've seen many other commenters say "great hike" and I agree. It is not spectacular, if that is what you're looking for, but the hike offers good exercise, panoramic vistas of Ushuaia and the Beagle Channel, and a chance to meet others... More

The trecking was just BEAUTIFULL. You will see mountains, forest, waterfalls at the same place. Take a cap ($120 pesos) from Ushuaia to the Glaciar and start the trecking. It takes few hours to go all the way up but it worth it. Take some water and snacks. Its not allowed camping.

this is a tourist spot with a hardcore access. trekking is steep and in a straight line, not the best way to get up a mountain. the landscape is beautiful though....even if the glacier itselfnis very small and by far not the most impressive piece of ice in the region. go there if you need the exercise (it is really... Lets make it clear. There is no glacier anymore. Just a few snow fields. Also you meet dozens of other hikers on the way up and down. On the other hand nice overview of the city, and in case of short stay probably the best hike in town. However far beyond any other trips we made in other parks and... More

The glacier can not be reaches by car, but it is a two hour hike that is beatiful, with great views of the city and the mountains. Also, the restaurant that is at the end of the car road serves incredible food (the upper one).
