Pira tours is the only tour company in Ushuaia which is able to provide tours that take you to the island of penguins where they are nesting. We were able to walk amongst approximately 15,000 penguins, adults and their babies, during our tour with Pira. It was the best tour we took during our month long cruise to South America.... More

Tis was the most amazing day of our south American holiday. To land on the Island and see all those penguins was so great. You got so close to them, seeing the breeding ground just incredible. Would highly recommend this small group tour. Our guide was informative.

Pira Tours is the only company that offers tours where you actually get to walk on Isla Martillo, the Penguin Island, for an hour. There were three kinds of penguins when I was there, including three King penguins! Rather long bus ride before and after, and with 1340 ARS > 100 USD (Dolarblue) a very expensive tour, but you get... More

A friend recommended this tour for our March 2015 South American cruise. Well, it turned out to be one of our two best tours in over 5 weeks of travel in South and Central America! I am unaware of any other penguin tour which offers such an up close experience. Our tour guides, Augustine, Santiago, and driver "Beto", were terrific.... More

The title says it all. Our guide was Santiago (Santi) . He spoke excellent English and as soon as we got on the 4x4 truck, informed us on many aspects of Ushuaia and Tierra DSL Fuego. The drive over was in a 4x4 truck, much better than an ordinary mini-bus. We stopped at a bone collection museum where another guide... More

A great day by special 4wd truck to visit Harberton Homstead and Matillo Island, home to 15 thousand Magellanic penguins; as well as a small colony of gentoo and king penguins, not normally seen here. Read 'The uttermost Part of the World" to get a deeper insight to early European settlement. Also an interesting research centre showing skeletons of many... More

My husband and I loved this experience very much!!!The two guys who were in charge of the tour were excellent, clear and very knowledgable. The group followed very carefully all the instructions and had the best and the most emotional tour looking, observing and taking pictures of the pinguins! They are adorable creatures very peaceful and at times we could see... More

I experienced the walk amidst the penguin colony as something unique and exhilerating. The icy wind, unpleasant as it was, did note stop me from thoroughly enjoying this experience. The stop for taking photographs on te way to Harberton was somewhat ridiculous to my mind: an empty valley with only three windblown trees was all there was to see (and... More

This is simply the one MUST DO thing in Ushuaia! We paid the online price of US$112pp. It was the best value of our entire 3 week trip. This is comparable to watching Brown bears feed at Brooks Falls, AK. Only you are closer. You are not just watching the penguins, you are among the penguins. Booking was unusually difficult... More
