This is the only tour we could find where you get to land and walk with the Penguins, for me seeing them from above on a boat wasn't enough. You do have to travel for 1 hour 45 mins each way but the scenery is lovely and the guide informative. Definitely the right choice.

This was the highlight of our time in Ushuaia. We did the morning Penguin Tour, and "Crazy Horse" was our guide. She was full of energy and tidbits about Ushuaia, the surrounding area, Estancia Harberton, and all the penguins we saw. The bus ride is about 1.5 hours and quite scenic, and then you either spend time on the Estancia... More

Our tour has two parts: Part 1: visit to Estancia Harberton. It's a 1.5 hour car ride from Ushuaia port. It's basically a marine museum with many fossils/bones of whales, dolphins, sea lion etc, and a tea house where people can get refreshments. It's ok. Part 2: the highlight of the tour is definitely a visit to Isla Martillo. It's... More

A very enjoyable trip, albeit quite costly and a long way from Ushuaia; having said that the journey back seemed much shorter ! Very good and knowledgable guide ( Laura ). The short trip out to the island from the estancia was fun and there were SO many beautiful penguins -- Maggellanic, Gentoo and even a lovely paitr of king... More

About two hours out and two hours back and only 90 minutes or so on the little island, but the penguins, up close, were fascinating. There is also a stop at a curious museum of whale and dolphin bones that seems more a filler of time than anything else. The guide was interesting and I had fun. I thought all... More

This was one of the highlights of our 2 month south american adventure.Only small groups of no more than 20 persons are allowed on the island at a time and you get to walk up close to the penguins but not chase them. We saw three species of penguins as well as many bird species. We had wonderful photographic opportunites... More

So glad we booked this trip while we were in Ushuaia, we were unsure how much penguins we would see as it was early in the season, we were greeted by about 50 when we landed on the island. We were delighted! You could get pretty close to them and they did not seem phased by us at all. There... More

GO ON THE PENGUIN TOUR! It was amazing - there is no reason not to do so. We went in late October when the tour was pretty small (18 people). We all went to the island together and everything from our pick up to drop off was well organized and informative. Getting to the estancia takes about 1 hour 45... More

Pira tours is the only tour company in Ushuaia which is able to provide tours that take you to the island of penguins where they are nesting. We were able to walk amongst approximately 15,000 penguins, adults and their babies, during our tour with Pira. It was the best tour we took during our month long cruise to South America.... More
