We travelled from El Calafate to Perito Moreno with the company Cal-Tur. The service was good, and it took us a little over 1hr to get there. Note there is a park entrance fee to be paid when you enter the park (60 pesos). This is not included in any tour fee, and is paid directly to the park rangers.... more

If you are going to Patagonia then you cannot miss seeing the Perito Moreno Glacier, it was absolutely incredible, we did the mini-trekking and thoroughly enjoyed it, the guides were terrific. Make sure to bring your camera with plenty of battery, weatherproof shoes and gloves and plan for an all day trip, we returned to the hotel around six. more

The Big Ice was tremendous. A lot of fun, tremendous scenery. But a couple of problems. First, the crampons were old, rigid, and no front points. We were originally booked to do this tour, the Big Ice trek on the Perito Moreno, as part of a larger package. After our travel plans were set we learned the tour provider, Heilo y Aventura, decided that anyone over 65 cannot do this tour.
