We recommend to do this great tour in a car, as you can make stops when you want and it is less stressful. There are many many wonderful spots to get out to take a closer look, take pictures and enjoy the lakes as loooong as you want to. The roads in the forest are of a decent quality, which... More

Rent a car (guided bus trips are aplenty but the stops are limited and the tours do not venture off the main road to lakes that can only be reached by dirt roads) then start either from San Martin de Los Andes or Villa La Angostura. The 7-Lakes route is a long full-day drive (especially if you make stops for... More

This was one of the hardest parts of my travel so far, but it was definately worth it. I know most people prefer doing this by car, but if you are up to the challange you will get a whole different experience out of it. My highlights were being able to camp right next to the lakes as well as... More

Most beautiful, with various landscapes, new vistas, charming little lake towns. Definitely a highlight of our trip. BUT beware, 90% of the roads are unpaved gravel or dirt roads, very dusty and hard on the tires. Take your time, it's worth it.

The lakes and mountains are beautiful, but a little boring after a while. Part of the road is not paved, and is quite bumpy and dusty. It would be worse if it were raining. There are very few places to pull out to enjoy the view. There are no services, so go with a full tank and enough food and... More

It's a trip down route 40 to see the forest, rivers and lakes. It ends in Villa La Angostura. Very nice part of the country, the lakes are amazing.

We drove from San Martin De Los Andes to Bariloche and the scenery on this route is stunning. We were able to stop and look at the lakes and take photos on the way.The road was being re sufficed in some place when we were there so it should improve the drive. The mountains are also lovely and it is a... More

We had to drive this route because we went from San Martin de los Andes to San Carlos de Bariloche. If not it would have been a waste of time, because we had not a good time in watching these Lakes. They were not very special in any way, just some lakes. Seven in a row!

Beautiful surroundings as others have said. Road works are less, there is now only 20kms of gravel road and they are working on it now. Worthwhile!

It's quite amazing how many different shapes and colors lakes and mountains can form. There are many places to explore, to camp nearby, or just have a picnic. The camp sites will let you get inside and spend some time for free, and will offer you any help and information you need.
