This area provides you with the very best option to see and almost interact with these big and fantastic animals. We sat in our rental car for hours with our lunch, warm coffee, cameras, etc.....and enjoyed the spectacle... Please be patient - it is not a Zoo that you are visiting. The whales come and go and if you only... More

Free place to visit, near of the whales. Good for a little adventure out of the city by bicycle. Or going by car and walking along the beach.

The Doradillo - and especially Playa Las Canteras - is THE place to visit if you want to see whales from a very short distance when you are in Argentina. The season goes from June to December but be sure to be there with the high tide (check an online tide chart). Really an amazing spectacle of nature. Totally for... More

Didnt really take the amazing pictures in the tour pamphlets seriously... but whales are actually RIGHT THERE! Breaching, scratching their bellies against the sand, and lazily floating just meters from the shore. It was our first stop of our tour of Peninsula Valdez, so at 830am, it's still freezing out - layer up! I half expected there to be hoards... More

The place is a free option to watch whales as they are usually very near the coast. When there are no whales, there is not much to see.

Visit this place from June to September. You can drive, take a taxi or bike from Puerto Madryn, which is only 20 Km away. It is a nice activity if you have a half day free, would take you a total of 2h by car to do the entire visit. Best beach to see whales in Doradillo area is usually... More

There's not much to tell here. It's a beautiful, natural beach where groups of whales gather and sometimes, if you're lucky, frolic and breach near the shore. The time to go is around high tide and local people can generally tell you when this is. There is a viewing platform at Punta Flecha, just before El Doradillo, where you can... More

This place is enchanting and you will see many whales (given it is whale season, which I believe is most of the year). If you go when the tide is high the whales come all the way to the coast and you see them so close you feel you can almost touch them. The scenery and the sounds of the... More

I rode a bike out here one day, but gave up before getting to Canteras because it was so far from PM. Drove out the next day on the way to Peninsula Valdes and was so happy I got a second chance. GO AT HIGH TIDE!
