We enjoyed the walk starting from our hotel in town. We started early and did not see anyone until we came down. A dog joined greeted us where the trail leaves the road and about half way up joined for the hike to the waterfall. The hike up was as enjoyable as the falls and la garganta del diablo. The... More

The waterfall itself is nothing spectacular, so don't get too excited. The scenery en route, however, is tremendous. You'll also probably hardly see another soul when you do the walk, so it's very peaceful. This walk alone makes a visit to Tilcara worth it. Just stunning.

It's about an 1h15 to walk up along the trail (follow the arrow that says 4km), a few steep sections, but mostly a gradual climb with great views, especially on the way down. It's mostly in the shade in the morning. I spent about an hour walking up to waterfall and the narrow trails through the canyon once I got... More

Stunning land formation! Anyone in the area should stop by! It´s the perfect spot for some awesome photos, and, like in most places around there, you can buy some cool cheap souveniers made by the locals!

We hiked up there. The hike is easy. Just take enough water. In my opinion the view on the hike up and down to the gorge from Tilcara is more stunning than the canyon/gorge itself. Once you are passed the entrance the hike along the river to the natural waterfall is cool as you can see a myriad of differently... More

Sorry to be negative, but I am unsure if we missed something here. We parked the car (just off the main road past), walked past the vendors up into the mouth of gorge for just a very short way until the route was barred (I did see someone ignore the signs and climb higher). We had been fortunate to see... More

The throat is amazing. Only 7km from Tilcara town. A very peaceful place. Set in the middle of a mountain range. Highly recommended. Energia increible. Solo 7km de Tilcara. Es un lugar muy pacifico y tranquilo. Un sitio en el medio de una montana. Es altamente recomendable.

Quite a trip up the mountain on a very and I mean very narrow dirt drive. Very nice views all the way up. Don't drive yourself! Take a tour as the drive has narrow hairpin blind turns with no guardrails.

You can also come here by car, but I advice you to do the whole hike and not the last 100 meters. In the beginning it is will go up rapidly but after a while it will become flatter. Make sure you have enough water with you. You cannot buy water on route. The strange thing is that up there,... More

I expected more based on available pictures. costs 10 pesos to enter. There is not much to see around Tilcara, so do visit, it's a nice hike.. or take a taxi
