We enjoyed a visit to Paolo Soleri's architectural experiement of Arcosanti very much. Arcosanti is an oasis in the desert. A grat place for single travelers or families with kids-not just a hotel or hostel but a very friendly community with very cheap rooms and excellent food - including vegetarian and vegan meals (and beer) while I was there. We stayed at the "Sky Suite" at Arcosanti during a recent visit to Arizona. What a great surprise! For those who don't know, Arcosanti (----) is an architectural project in the central desert between Phoenix and Flagstaff. They give tours, have an onsite cafe, make and sell fabulous wind chimes and now, also provide a small number of lodging spaces.... more
