Beautiful on the outside and on the inside. In the square in front, don't miss the white stone that draws the basic outline of the Cathedral and the next door building on the ground, outlining the shape, doors and windows. Interesting!
Everything that can be carved is carved; any column that can plausibly be made twiddly has been made twiddly; everything that can be gilded is gilded; the inside of every dome is painted, every side-chapel has its polychrome wooden saint or Jesus - look for the good shepherd with his sheep.
The jesuits built this cathedral over a period of many years. It is located in a central square and there is an interesting outline in front in marble showing the outline of the building. Beautiful attraction, it is not so good as it use to be some years ago, when the dirty church made us breath history just seeing it! But inside, is one of the most beautiful churches of south america. Really good, and free!
The Cathedral is the epicenter of the historic district. A magnificent, centuries-old construction, it is simple gorgeous outside and, mostly and overall, inside.
