Staff were unbelievably rude and consistently tried to serve pints that were sitting by the tap when we arrived. If the pub was busy, this would be understandable but there were only about 20 people there.

We went here hoping they would have Guinness based on past reviews. There was none, as seems to be the pattern in all of South America. They do have a Celtic Stout beer that does an amazing job of imitating Guinness. We would highly recommend if you are looking for a good stout. We just got pub food and it... More

Great bar, nice people, good food. Super place to relax and listen to music, talk to locals and get into the BA scene. Want to practice your Spanish? Good luck, everybody wants to practice their English! Still, lots of laughs and cold beer. Did I mention cold beer?

Found this bar on a busy Friday night - loads of atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. Not very Irish but don't hold that against it. Great happy hour deals on beer. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

The bar is nice, cheap beer and great music. But dispite that, the bar is always empty. I went there two times, and both of them was like this. The bar looks like a ghost town, not a pub. Don't recommend.

Decided to go out one night farther from the Palermo/Recoleta neighborhoods and found myself at the Kilkenny. Apparently a really popular place for local Argies to come drink after work... it was super fun! Of course nothing like true Irish pubs, but it was the first place I found Guinness (on tap). Was only my buddy and I, but while... More

Well I have never been to a real Irish pub, but this was fun nonetheless! Came here on a Thursday night and it was packed, but super fun. Seemed lots of people come to this bar/are right after work, which was pretty cool since a lot of bars I went to in BA seemed like mostly tourists (I was staying... More

It's in big bar designed to look like an Irish pub. They do have Guinness but it's pricey. Just about everything here is expensive. The main problem is every single night the music is blaring and it ruins the atmosphere. The food is decent enough but again it's not a great value.

Having spent nearly 7 months in Ireland I was quite thrilled when my wife and I happened to run into Kilkenny which was down the street from the Marriott Plaza Hotel. It was around 10.30pm and while most people were still finishing dinner we were just looking for a few after dinner drinks. Bartenders were very nice and both spoke... More

Very well known and established Irish themed pub in down town Buenos Aires. Had to check out to this pub after reading so many reviews and at the urging of a few fellow travelers and expected much, but it just did not be the place it had supposedly once been. The decor is not much and obviously better days have... More

Staying in Retiro

Neighborhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighborhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
