We visited Silvia y Mario's store at the recommendation of 2 others. Silvia was so delightful; we instantly clicked with her and felt as if we had made a new friend as well. We were never hurried, we were able to choose purses, a leather jacket, and wallets at our leisure. Our daughter is studying in Buenos Aires for the... More

I am very disappointed at the Plaza San Martin store. I purchased a belt there, damaged by the sales-ladies themselves as they tightened extra notches on it. They let me leave the store with the damaged product, without warning me about it. I only realized the imperfection as I was packing to leave Buenos Aires. After that, I contacted them... More

Management response:

Dear Luciana, We knew at the begining you were the one writting this unfaithfull chritic. This is the case of a very untruthfull opinion, which we anway respect, The belt was purchased in perfect state. When the customer asks for extra notch, it is a service we do not provide, but one of our salesperson made it for you, as... More

This is a great place to buy a leather jacket in Argentina. Upstairs is the factory where they are made, downstairs is the showroom with knowledgeable and helpful staff. Nothing is too much trouble - I had the lining of one jacket transplanted into the leather outer part of another - and they make to measure as well. Highly recommended;... More

SIlvia is one of the best women in Argentina. Beautiful and a delight. Her shop is filled with items I never tire of. I have been going there since the 1990s, well made clothes, jackets, sweaters, shoes, purses, boots, belts and more. And their while you are vistiting is topped by no other. Don't miss it

I was recently named n Argentina and had the pleasure of meeting Silvia and Angelica. They are a reflection of the products they sell. They are both absolute dolls!! The leather was amazing. I picked up a bomber jacket and love it. I got many compliments on it when I returned to Denver. Silvia also took my measurements. I'll likely... More

We purchased four jackets from Silvia y Mario in March, 2015. We went there based on the positive reviews on Trip Advisor. We were visiting Buenos Aires before and after a trip to the Antarctic. We went to the shop early in the trip to have our measurements taken. The jackets were made while we were on our trip and... More

The service was excellent. The coats were finely made with quality leather and priced right. They fit perfectly. It is best to bring a blank check with you when making a purchase. That will give you the best price. If not, have your pay pal account information with you. This was one of our finest shopping experiences.

I was looking for some guidance in finding a source of Argentinian leather goods. Silvia y Mario popped up on the map with some of the highest ratings and a very convenient location. They lived up to their ratings in every way - great selection of top quality goods at very fair prices. If you are looking for leather goods,... More

We were a small group traveling through Argentina and our guide recommended us to Silvia y Mario. Not knowing what to expect, we were delightfully surprised at the vast leather good inventory of good quality leathers. Service was excellent in the shop and Silvia was very knowledgeable and charming. We had the opportunity later to view some other leather shops... More

Staying in Retiro

Neighborhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighborhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
