Suddenly, before you lies a beautiful vineyard-strewn amphitheatre overlooking the Bottelary Hills and the upper reaches of Devon Valley. This is the home of the Momberg family, who have been wine farmers since 1919.Join in the Boerebraai fun at Middelvlei where our resident braai expert will prepare your chops, boerewors and chicken sosaties to perfection. As if the appetising aromas of roosterkoek and braaibroodjies are not enough, Ben's homemade pâté and Ouma Annie's pumpkin fritters have placed the Middelvlei Braai in a league of its own. « less

We were a party of 12 adults and 5 children. Loved the child friendly space and staff. We started off with wine-tasting. Great wine. Service was good and the 'picnic' style lunch well worth it. Potbread with pate and jam for starters followed by lamb chop, chicken, boerewors (sausage) with salad and braaibroodtjie (roasted/toasted cheese and onion sandwich) - very... More

We had the pleasure of enjoying a boerebraai lunch here and doing a little bit of tasting and blending, which was great fun. Us is also my ten year old daughter who loved the 'wine' tasting of various juices and learning a bit on how wine is made. She loved it. The food was very good, the Middelvlei Pinotage was... More

There are few wine farms left that offer an authentic, old school, down to earth, 'barefoot' wine tasting - and Middelvlei is easily one of the very best. You're likely to get taken on a tour by one of the Momberg family members who will share intimate details a simple sommelier could never hope to do. We were fortunate enough... More

Stumbled across Middelvlei whilst passing by. We've enjoyed some of their wines in the past, so decided to pop in on a whim. As soon as we were out of our vehicle, we were welcomed by the friendly hounds that abide there. The wines on offer were of a good quality, and extremely keenly priced too. There's also a small... Even though we live close by in Cape Town, we decided to overnight in Stellenbosch. The self-catering accommodation on Middelvlei is comfortable and spotlessly clean. It's not far to the attractions that Stellenbosch has to offer but still isolated enough to feel as if one is far from the madness of the city. It was lovely having the owners dogs... More

We went with 3 young, energetic boys and the setting was great. There was space to play, animals to pet and even balls and scooters! The relaxed atmosphere meant that the kids could be themselves without disturbing anyone.

Just like home - an down to earth braai, under the autumn sun. Pleasant lunch, with pleasing wines, in this child-friendly envionrment. Highly recommended.

We visited Middelvlei Wine Estae with a group of Australian visitors in the pouring rain and had a wonderful time. There was a very welcome fire being stoked up to take the chill away from the storm outside. We started with a winetasting conducting by the bubbling Jeanneret who took us through their lovely wines. While this was going on... More

Other positive reviews say it all. It's the Stellenbosch experience (great food, wine and views), but especially for those with little ones who may not be foodies but will certainly like the farm animals (plus wallabies and the many tortoises), the sand pit, the grass to run on, and the little lunch for them. You have to want to try... More

We visited this wine farm today and had their braai for lunch. Included was snoek pâté on pot bread, lamb chop, delicious boerewors and pumpkin fritters ( the best I've ever had). The farm has resident goats, pigs, ducks, tortoises. The resident boerboel and sausage dogs are a lovely addition. R135 was a good price for a great traditional lunch
