Being a local and someone who has visited many wine estates, this one simply does not CUT IT!! The feel and touch is so CORPORATE orientated that they have lost the plot... about what a wine tasting experience should be... A dish cloth has more personality than this experience... The tasting cost more than any of the other wine estates,... More

Lovely Spier... what can I say. From the moment you drive through the gates, you realize that you have reached a special place. From the craft market stalls outside, to the stunning views of the lawns and river... (buy picnic food at the deli!) All the staff were more than helpful, making sure you enjoy every minute and are well... More

Look, I’d probably had one too many wines (and brandies!) by the time our tour arrived at Spier, but I really enjoyed it. The dining room, with large windows through which soft sunlight flooded, was magical. The continental style lunch of cold-cut meats with bread and oil was delicious (and needed!) and wines were a nice match. Service was attentive.... More

Whether we visit Spier for a family lunch and expect to spend a whole lot of money (the food is worth it) or whether we want to experience the Eagle Encounters, which is fascinating and fun, we leave Spier feeling rejuvenated. Long walks through the gardens, exploring for the children and watching the various birds and squirrels is tranquil. The... More

We very much enjoyed our wine and food pairing which was enhanced by our wine educator. The system for ordering wine for delivery back in the UK was excellent. The grounds are beautiful and the wildlife rescue area was an unexpected highlight. The young men running this were extremely knowledgeable and clearly very committed to providing great care to the... More

When we booked the Spier 'wine farm' we expected a tranquil place in the country side where wine would be the main theme. What you actually get at Spier is a very corporate experience next to a very busy main road with all conference facilities slam bang in the middle of the property. It is a loud and busy estate,... We made a huge mistake in assuming we could take the train from the station in Stellenbosch to the farm, and landed up having to walk a few kilometres along the main road to get there but our excitement to get there kept us laughing! unfortunately, when we arrived, the restaurant had just closed so our lunch choice was a... Spier is in need of a make over. Moyo is no longer a really good restaurant. The food was tired, the bbq was already shut down and the picnic food choices uninspiring. In an area with wonderful food and great restaurants sad to say Spier needs a makeover.

The Spier Wine Tasting was amazing! I chose the wine and chocolate tasting combination and was very impressed with the way that the chocolate complemented the wine. I learned a great deal on this wine-tasting tour and will definitely visit again!!
