Spier is one of the oldest wine farms in South Africa, with a recorded history dating back to 1692. Spier's winery has won multiple awards in recent years, including Producer of the Year (Mundus Vini, Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show 2011). We also performed exceptionally at the 2011 International Wine and Spirits Competition (five Best in Class Gold medals and two trophies), and were the top performing SA winery at Concours Mondial de Bruxelles for three consecutive years. The Spier cellar has ISO 22000 certification, is Fair Trade accredited, organically certified and follows the Integrated Production of Wine (IPW) criteria.

amaze place, wine and workers of this farm that combines a beautiful and warm reception and a wine that don't let you leave one drop of the wine in the glass during the wine tasting

Visited as part of our Cape Peninsular Tour. A lovely experience tasting several white wines and a sparkling wine paired with chocolate. A friendly knowledgeable staff. Enjoyed it so much we brought several bottles of wine and chocolate bars.

This is a lovely establishment but less Casual than many other Wine farms! It feels very posh, very fancy and like a certain type of person hangs out here! Never the less we had some wine tasting here! I was a bit disappointed that they did not offer any sweet wines but I did grow a new passion for dry... More

We stopped here at the recommendation of our driver--he was bringing us back to Cape Town from Aquila Game Preserve. What a great stop. Beautiful, clean, spacious, very inexpensive and with marvelous presentation. We split/shared one wine tasting and there was plenty for both of us. We tasted five wines for only 35 Rand! We got a very well apportioned... More

Spier is one of the oldest wineries in SA and takes a lot of pride in its recents efforts towards susteinability. 100% of the trash generated in the property is recycled, for instance. But you don't have to be interested in the subject to apreciate your staying. The rooms are wide, quiet and superbly comfortable. Food is local, fresh and... More

Spier is one of those places that you will visit and never want to leave again. The relaxed atmosphere is out of this world and the staff do their utmost to attend to your every need. We have been to Spier on several occasions and will continue to do so.

I had no idea there was an eagle encounter when we got to spier. We went in to the bird Exibit and walked around admiring and touching the birds. It was super informational, you can go in the owl enclosure and have owls sit on you or hold a huge eagle. I am a bird phob so I didn't do... More

A jam-packed day with boatloads of fun for adults and kids. We took the 1934 steam train from central Cape Town, book through Atlantic Rail (trains, Planes and Automobiles,) A relaxing ride takes you to Spier Wine Farm where you are at leisure. We loved the encounters with eagles, buzzards, owls, gymnogenes and other birds of prey, if you are... More

Grounds are impressive, the play ground and forest kept the children busy for ages. The food and wine was very average but the weather and the setting made a lovely day out.
