Owner description: Spier is one of the oldest wine farms in South Africa, with a recorded history dating back to 1692. Spier's winery has won multiple awards in recent years, including Producer of the Year (Mundus Vini, Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show 2011). We also performed exceptionally at the 2011 International Wine and Spirits Competition (five Best in Class Gold medals and two trophies), and were the top performing SA winery at Concours Mondial de Bruxelles for three consecutive years. The Spier cellar has ISO 22000 certification, is Fair Trade accredited, organically certified and follows the Integrated Production of Wine (IPW) criteria.

I wanted to treat my hubby for his birthday and us as a couple for our anniversary. And boy, did we get spoilt! Everybody at Spier went out of their way to make us feel really special. In addition the facilities are beautiful and well maintained. The kitchen staff even had a special surprise for us by making us a... More

We went to Spier Wine Farm when we realized that we didn't want to wait hours for the cable car up Table Mountain. It was a disappointment turned around into a wonderful day! We started with breakfast at Eight restaurant. Breakfast was ok, but what really wowed me was the homemade juice (a ginger/cucumber/apple concoction of deliciousness). After breakfast, we... More

Spier is by far one of the most perfect places to visit with a young family! Beautiful gardens for the little ones to run around in and an excellent restaurant - Eight which although it has a very small menu has something for even the fussiest of diners - and the kids always rave about the sesame chicken strips! Good... More

This experience was to do with picnic'ing and the "Eight To Go Deli". We did not do any wine tasting. I do understand that its peak season in late Dec - but I would expect Spier to know and account for this. I've had great experiences at Spier in previous years and was looking forward to another, but it wasn't... More

This review goes out to the picnic area. Not so much about the wine farm or the wine tasting. Since thanks to the attitude of the security we never even got to it. We entered the grounds of the park, seeking for a picnic spot. Immidiately approached by a security guy (can't remember his name, wore a white polo shirt;... More

People who complain about Spier are not visiting to relax and take their time. You need to know that you cannot rush Spier, especially in high season. For the estate not to ask for an entry fee, always surprises me. We arrived in time for the first Eagle Encounter demonstration at 11h00 (R60 for children, R80 for adults). It lasted... More
