Spier is one of the oldest wine farms in South Africa, with a recorded history dating back to 1692. Spier's winery has won multiple awards in recent years, including Producer of the Year (Mundus Vini, Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show 2011). We also performed exceptionally at the 2011 International Wine and Spirits Competition (five Best in Class Gold medals and two trophies), and were the top performing SA winery at Concours Mondial de Bruxelles for three consecutive years. The Spier cellar has ISO 22000 certification, is Fair Trade accredited, organically certified and follows the Integrated Production of Wine (IPW) criteria.

Just popped in for a look at another classic wine estate and loved it! Great setting with walks around the stunning estate and a perfect place for a picnic. We hadn't planned to eat here but the pick your own picnic option from the deli was fabulous and really good value compared to the prices in the estate restaurants. Believe... More

Went to Spier - to taste the wine (Sunday lunchtime) bit of a queue to actually get a table and had to wait a good 20mins on the terrace for a table inside - (maybe add a few extra tables?) Went for the high end menu - server was polite and knowledgeable - just enough time to enjoy the experience... More

What a fun place to visit! We did a superb wine tasting and then went out to visit the bird sanctuary. We then went back into the tasting room where the owner helped us out tremendously with figuring out how much wine we could actually travel with. We purchased two shipping boxes from him and filled one with Spier wine... More

Try the chocolate tasting! The wine, the service! The entire experience was worth repeating. We went to start touring vineyards in the area and stayed the entire day. There was even a grape juice tasting for the 6 year old in our group.

We dropped by as part of a day trip to Stellenbosch and were very pleased with the wine farm. There is a large variety of things to do but the most impressive for us was the restaurant. I am forever ruined for anyone else's chicken pies after having theirs as it was truly outstanding! The place really is lovely and a... More

Had a very pleasant lunch in 8 Restaurant with locally produced fare served in nice surroundings by efficient staff. Afterwards visited the wine shop and after tasting a few made my selection, paid reasonable prices and was on my way. Well worth a visit, the grounds are beautiful and immaculate

Pop to their Deli & take advantage of the wide range on offer. Buy the wine, hire a blanket & find yourself a spot on the grounds to enjoy your feast & the beauty in front of you. Take your kids along, they've got plenty of room for them to run around & they've got a few designated play areas.... More

The winery property is HUGE! We stayed here for two nights. Although, some people come just for an excursion or wine tasting. And even though their wine is nothing to shout about, there is so much to do on this property. The rooms are spacious and have nice decorations. There is everything necessary in the room. the beds are very... More
