We thoroughly enjoyed going through the various houses on the tour. When I arrived at the first house, I immediately thought it reminded me of Strawberry Banke in New Hampshire. I see in one of the reviews that someone else thought so too!

This gives you a flavour of the past settlers and their impact on today. You visit four different houses from four different ages.

This is by far the best museum I have been to in a long time! If you have been to the Strawberry Banke Museum in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, it has much the same feeling but with a twist. We came about this museum while walking through Stellenbosch waiting for my niece to finish writing an exam. We went to have... More

An interesting journey from the first dutch pioneers to the victorian english style. 4 historical houses well kept and a nice small garden surrounding the buildings. Reccomended!

We really enjoyed the traditional homes and how the museum showcased different eras in the history of Cape Dutch design. The museum itself could use a renovation, but the staff, for the most part, were informative and helpful.

I visited this museum on a lovely weekend morning. It was nice to be able to leisurely experience some of the history of Stellenbosch told through walk-through period housing. A nice little stroll in a pretty side of Stellenbosch

The Village Museum presently comprises four houses, in their original location, and almost neighbours, so walking around them is easy. The houses date from approximately 1709 to 1850 and show the furnishings and style of the period. A guide in each house, dressed in the appropriate costume of the time, gave a talk on the restoration, suggesting items of interest... More

We enjoyed the history of Stellenbosch and this museum told the story pretty well. The women, in costume, who gave the tours were gracious and knowledgeable.

The museums in general in Stellenbosch has a really big potential. The village museum should be one example of doiing something about it. They have a interesting history, too little focus on people that have really suffered and worked under bad conditions.
