Each house has a lady dressed in the clothing of that period who gives a run down of the house and its occupants and what the various items in the house were used for, as well as... More

Excellent morning spent learning a lot about the history of the area. One purchase to enter all the museums.

For r35 you get to see four different houses from different periods. The guides were very knowledgeable and happy to answer questions. Would recommend if you're into historical buildings and reconstruction of periods of history. Definitely worthwhile.

They estimate that the visit will take 35 minutes but you can spend longer. Each house had a guide in period costume recounting the history of the house. Overall very informative and worth doing especially if short on time.

This site has multiple houses to visit and you have to walk across the street to see some, but the insides of these homes were worth the strange setup.

The Village Museum offers a very good insight in the life and history of the first Europeans, the subsequent 'settlers' as well as the role and position of the 'local' people. Many objects are very recognisably 'european', but nearly all (re-)produced in S A with local materials. In each of the 5 (original) houses of the museum village a local... More

-4 furnished homes on original foundations representing 4 architectural and social periods in Stellenbosch, from 1600's to late 1800's -- you walk from home to home, where friendly guides in period costumes describe life in that period -low-key and relaxing way to learn about the history of the city
