This is a small family run business and was recommended to us by Penelope our B&B people in Stellenbosch. Normally I tend to do the driving everywhere when visiting South Africa, but on this occasion had some friends with us for there first South African visit so decided to have two relaxing days instead. I had arranged these tours before we arrived in SA with Antoinette and any questions I had were answered really quickly and we could be very flexible in what we wanted to do.
Arranged to get picked up at Penelope's at 9.00 Louis arrived right on time straight away a relaxing atmosphere. The first tour included Table Mountain, A prolonged visit around Cape Town, Signal Hill, Botanical gardens, a typical Cape lunch (excellent and different). We returned back to our B&B at 18.00,but just prior to arriving Louis asked if we required any shopping which was much appreciated. Next day the Wine tour (lucky I didn't need to drive).Again an excellent day and also visited a cheese farm. Here again had an excellent lunch at one of the wine farms. A great tour. Also all along the two days Louis gave us information on the area we were in, some history of the area which was really interesting. Made a great decision to do these tours instead of the driving saw a lot more and found out things we didn't know. If you are in the area Camno tours operate I recommend you go with them the whole organisation prior and during were excellent.

Dear Alexander Thank you for this lovely review. What a pleasure to read now in the middle of such a hard time for tourism with the Carona virus indeed. Louis read this with me and he said he will email you personally to hear how you are doing and if you are healthy. He absolutely loved the 2 days of touring with you- what memories. We hope the world will heal and we can all get back on the road to do what we love and share our beautiful country with tourists. Thank you for sharing and trusting us with 2 memorable days. We miss our tourists indeed. Very Kind Regards from Stellenbosch - March 2020 Stay healthy please. Antoinette

What a beautiful day spent at 5 different vineyards in Stellenbosch! Louis our guide is such a wonderful person with a wealth of knowledge about the art of wine making. I personally learnt so much from the tour and have a new found appreciation for wine. Antoinette who does the booking is so sweet and accommodating. Highly recommend Camino Tours to anyone wanting an excellent wine tour, hands down will be our tour guide of choice!

We enjoyed two days by Camino's arrangement, first day by private tour and second day by small group tour guided by Janine. We exchanged mails prior to the reservation with our preference, and Camino proposed private tour including transportation to next hotel. We enjoyed visiting wineries & wine tasting with different style and scales reflecting our preference and it was really nice two days wineries visit in Cape Wineland. Enjoyed conversations and knowledge of wines of Janine as well.l

Louis picked us up from our hotel in Cape Town at 9am and off we went for the day to Paarl, Stellenbosch and the outskirts of Franschhoek. We started at Avondale, lovely location with organic wines. We then went to Anthonij Rupert, a very impressive location in the old family country house. The wine here was very good indeed, and when we were returning home to the UK we bought some bottles at Joburg airport. On to Graaf estate for a really top class lunch and guess what, some more very impressive wine! Finally finished off at a really friendly rugby mad family vineyard L’Avenir with some more very tasty wines paired with delicious cheese! What made our day special was spending time talking to Louis, listening to his honest advice and just relaxing. He was a brilliant host and even took us on an impromptu stop at the jail where Mandela was finally released from captivity. We would highly recommend Louis and Camino tours, and would definitely do that all again!

Just returned to our hotel after a truly fantastic day with Camino Wine Tours visiting several wineries around Stellenbosch.
Our guide Louis was the perfect host - right blend of informed, welcoming and humorous creating a most relaxing and informative day. All in all a great day out and one I would thoroughly recommend.

My husband and I visited Stellenbosch in November and ran upon Camino tours and they provided two days of private tours in Stellenbosch and surrounding areas. Louis was the perfect host and showed us many small wineries and was extremely knowledgeable. When we are in Stellenbosch again we will definitely use them and highly suggest them!

We were guided by Louis. We were extremely impressed by his knowledge and contacts - he arranged a detour on route. We visited a great selection of wineries from slick to rustic!

Next time we go to South Africa we will definitely be checking in with Camino Wine Tours.

Thank you Louis!

We had a great overview of the Stellenbosch wine region with Antoinette and Louis in August 2014. We had a personal tour and found the experience wonderful. We have carried back many fond memoirs and bottles from our visit and the experience at Boschkoolf was magical! Thank you

Thank you so much for taking the time to write something 6 months later. This really means a lot to Camino. I am so glad that you enjoyed your tours with us and that Boschkloof was your favorite. Yes you were lucky to taste some Cape Winemakers guild wine that day and also for the winemaker to sign a wine bottle to make it personal. This we can only offer on private tours booked well in advance. Thank you again for your support and hope to see you back in Stellenbosch soon. Antoinette

Our guide, Martin, has extensive knowledgeable about wine and wine region, and history of South Africa, really made the tour. The Wineries selected have us a perspective of wine in the region, From small start-ups to large producers. His personality went along way to making it a great tour.

About the only negative was the selection of the restaurant. The food was great but service was way too slooooooow. The restaurant tried to make up for screwing up our order by plying us with their mediocre wine.

The number of Wineries (4) was the right amount, but the large selection at Johnstone kind of became an overload. Had to take a long nap after the tour to sleep-off the excess of tasting. Great value for the price and the experience.

Dear Client Thank you for taking the time to share your comments. I am glad to hear that Martin & his knowledge was the highlight of the tour for you. Your tour was on 18 February with a group of 8 people. The lunch was booked at Clos Malverne that specific day, currently No2 on Tripadvisor for restaurants in Stellenbosch. I understand that your lunch took long and Martin did his utmost best to follow up with the Kitchen and we arranged a glass of MCC for you all - sorry that you saw this as mediocre. Restaurants are extremely busy in peak season and yes perhaps there was a hick up with your order that got mixed on the day, but in general Clos Malverne have glowing reviews and our guests are very satisfied here. I did follow up with management and they are aware of the slow service that day and will be more attentive to our guests in the future. Unfortunately it is out of Camino tours hands how the speed and service of a restaurant will operate on a specific day - a pity that you rather did not leave your comments on their own site :o( There is no wine estate like Jhonstone - you are probably referring to Louisvale. This was your last estate the day. They especially stayed open for us a bit later to still accommodate us for a tasting at 16:15. ( they usually close at 4pm) 6 wines were poured as a last and 3rd tasting estate for the day. Nobody forces any client to taste / drink all the wine. There is spittoons on the tables and guests can spit out or you could have ordered a coffee and we would have gladly paid for it instead of a wine tasting, if you informed us you had enough. We can not control how much guests taste / drink and this is each to their own. With 3 wine estates for tasting & 1 lunch stop - we feel that this is a good balance compared to some companies that push in 5 / 6 estates a day. Thank you for your review Camino tours team.

As we went as a married couple to taste wines we decided that none of us should drive. Both for our marriage to hold on and because they drive on the left sida of the road. Louis was a safe driver, but he does really know about must of the wine producers in this area, and has previously been to that business himself, which was very useful. OK, maybe a little bit expensive compared to travel with Uber but you get so much more!

Dear Liselott Thank you for your time you took to review! it was lovely driving you around for 2 days to various estates in Stellenbosch and Paarl wine regions!. Yes that is true - you get a save driver, but also a knowledgeable tour guide, and in Louis case (he was a winemaker at a stage) with much knowledge and stories and contacts in the industry, that it is not really comparable with a Uber driver. Thank you for booking and I also enjoyed planning the routes with you and making all bookings and appointment for you. Hope you will have some lovely wine memories to cherish for a while! Antoinette
