Tokara is one of my favourite wineries in the Stellenbosch area. Sitting high on Helshoogte Road, it overlooks the valley and blends perfectly with its surroundings. Make sure that you take a stroll after (or before) the wine tasting and walk through their olive orchards to the restaurant/delicatessen buildings (yes, one could also drive but you'd miss out on some... The day we visited tokara it was freezing and the wine tasting area felt like a little slice of heaven. The wines were delicious, the fireplace so welcoming. It felt so homely with olive oil and bread for tasting, olives, chocolate.. Great start to our day!

Seated with a perfect view on the the balcony we chose from an interesting menu. Unfortunately the kitchen failed to deliver on 50% of the dishes. The Trout baked Alaska with smoked salmon ice cream, was very interesting, brave in fact, but just didn't work. A tomato salad with home made feta was light but just that a cheese and... More

Enjoyed A brief tasting here, cut short as a 20-strong bus of tourists flooded the tasting room shortly after our arrival, somewhat spoiling the previously serene ambiance. Great wines and olive oils from what I tasted, and the peacocks in the car park were a nice touch too.

We did a wine tasting here in november, and really enjoyed it! Good wine, and good service. The beautifull veiw made the experience even better.

Try the late harvest and try the brandy. Both are very good. We like the tasting room and the way the estate has been laid out and designed. Worth a visit in summer and in winter.

Arrived at 13h00 to do wine tasting first and then sit down for lunch. We waited for 15 minutes to be served at the tasting after enquiring twice. None of the attendants were interested in service and seemed incompetent to handle the number of people in the tasting room. Tired of waiting we abandoned our plan and drove off to... More

went for a day ride in the wineyards, and stoped at Tokara without knowing anything about it... didn't keep the business card, and spend weeks afterwards trying to identify the place again, in order to go back the food is absolutely delicious, original, quite unexpected (salmon with vanilla ice cream)... cheap, and most importantly, in an amazingly beautiful setting

We have visited this restaurang many times during the last years. The first times we got excellent food but then it went down in quality. Now we tried again for lunch and are very happy to find that the freshness and the exciting combination of the ingredients made it a real pleasure. We will certainly come back again.
