Hanli organized a wonderful Cape Malay cooking class. The chef Latifa was very sweet and shared her cooking secrets and recipes. We got to prepare and eat delicious authentic food and learn about Cape Malay culture, people and food. Great experience!

Wow!! What a gem!! Had an American guest here and we did the tour. Hanli was excellent, full of knowledge and interesting tales to tell. Good food was tasted as well as wine and teas. I will send all my visitors on this walking tour of Stellenbosch

Having experienced a number of tours in many Countries and over a period of 30 years this was the best my wife and I have ever experienced. Simone was very engaging and was full of knowledge and pointed out even the minor details, which added to our experience. The tour partners were very friendly and provided Food and drink that... As a local in Stellenbosch, I thought I'd seen it all! Especially Kayamandi. I mean, as operations manager for a local backpackers, I've done staff pickups and drop-offs in the township at various times, but! Today I realised that I've never fully experienced this area. It's not a "township" but the home of some truely amazing people! Our guide's pride... More

People are often fearful about townships and skeptical about township tours, but you opened your heart and mind and let the people of Kayamandi give you a new perspective. Thank you for this huge encouragement! More

We've had the honour to join Hanli on two of her tours. One in the city center of Stellenbosch, and another one to visit (and cook with) mama Lily in the township. Both were interesting, fun and absolutely delicious! Hanli is an experienced tour guide and can 'feel' the individual needs of the people in her group. Groups on her... More

We had such a fabulous day with Hanli and the Bites and Sites tour group. We were able to experience all different types of South African food and drinks. We especially enjoyed the biltong we tasted,(we went back to get more after the tour!). We loved learning the history of the area, and walking around the city was a great... More

The tour is well thought out and starts with a visit to the sites of Stellenbosch before starting the tastings. Hanli is a great guide: she is very knowledgeable and personable, and is on great terms with the locals. She makes you feel at ease immediately the tour starts. The visit of the museum was most interesting. We enjoyed tastings... More

We had a wonderful afternoon as Hanli (owner of Bites & Sites) guided us around Stellenbosch. She planned an experience that encompassed several shops selling specialty foods or drinks, took us for a delightful lunch in a lovely inn, and told us so much about the town of Stellenbosch as we visited some historical sights and strolled through the gracious... Having done the Urban Adventure Food Walk in Amsterdam, I did not think that this would be even close. But what a surprise. This was great. A lot of history of Stellenbosch, lovely food to taste and me a South African! I learnt so much. My colleagues enjoyed it just as much and made us want to know more and... More
