Everyone I met as we toured round SA said we should go here and I now see why. Whether you like cars or not its a worth spending an hour or so here - excellent value.

I've been to this museum a few times over the years and it's worth it every time. As much as I know that I've seen most of the pieces before I have a different experience every time I go there. It's a special place celebrating well-known South African artists.

One is surprised with the wealth of art in the very non-pretentious buildings standing in the middle of Stellenbosch. Many of South Africa's masters are in the collection. There are often travelling exhibitions.

Amazing collection of South African master paintings and sculptures, as well as some contemporary artworks from the Rupert collection. Extremely tastefully and beautifully presented. On par with any international standard in my view. A must for anybody interested in South African art. I would love to see some more contemporary exhibitions held in this beautiful space! An exceptional art gallery in a beautiful building. The collection of South African art is interesting, wide ranging and well displayed. The Pierneef suite of topographical images, once erected at the Johannesburg Railway Station, is a key part of the collection. By contrast the SA Art Gallery in Cape Town seemed rather flat and limited. Definitely worth a visit.

This unassuming conglomerate of white barns in the Cape Vernacular style at the entrance to Stellenbosch holds an amazing collection of South African art. The original station panels painted by Pierneef are to be found in this custom built space as well as walls dripping with vibrantly coloured Irma Stern paintings.

This is a wonder place to see a collection of very unique pieces of art located adjacent to a number of wineries on the edge of town.

We were the only visitors, our footsteps echoed. Although there were many Irma Sterns on view, they were of varied quality. The Pierneefs from Johannesburg railway station were worth the visit.
