I exchanged many emails with Roeland and he gave me the perfect choice on how to cover the best of Oudtshoorn - Cango caves, Ostrich farm, Swartberg mountains and then drop me off to Kynsna. Unfortunately due to a delay in the flight I had to forego the Pass tour. But Roeland took me home, introduced his wife (who also... More

We wanted to fully experience the beauty of the Swartberg mountains, and the Swartberg Pass, without having to be distracted by driving etc. Choosing Roeland to guide us round proved to be an inspired choice, as his knowledge and enthusiasm for all aspects of flora, fauna, geology, history etc was infectious, and opened up our eyes to so many things.... We did an all day tour with Roeland that took us over the Swartberg Pass and then the 37 kilometer drive to "Gamkaskloof" also known as Die Hel. Roeland is a great tour guide and is very knowledgeable of the history of the area, geology, the flora, fauna, and the wildlife. We never felt rushed and would strongly recommend him... More

We did a full day tour with Roeland, starting with the Cango Caves, over the Swartberg Mountain pass, to Prince Alfred and back to Oudtshoorn. He was very informative and pointed out much flora and fauna. We stopped quite a few times en route to take in the views. We never felt rushed. This is the only way to see... More

Our family of 12 booked a tour that took us to the museum, cango ostrich farm, the cango caves, wilgewandel farm, drove over the Swartberg mountain pass, swam in the rivers between the mountains, Prince Albert, and swam at the meiringspoort waterfall. The tour guide was great, very informative and funny, pointed out details that we wouldn't even notice on our... More

Had an absolutely fantastic impromptu tour. Tour guide spots all kinds of animals and has a vast knowledge of animals, landscapes and South African history. The vehicles are good too! Certainly good value for money. I would highly recommend this for anyone. Variety of tours to suit all budgets and interests.

There's only one way to discover Swartberg mountain and that's with Roeland. We did the tour with our two boys (10, 12 years old), and they also loved it. He makes a stop wherever you want, depending on your interests, tells you everything about the flora and fauna, or everything you want to know about South Africa. We learned a... More

If you are in the region, leave your car and take a guided tour with Roeland. We did the circular tour from Oudtshoorn to Prince Albert with the Cango caves and a swim in the waterfalls on the way and absolutely loved it. In theory, this can be done by car on your own but without someone to explain the... More

Book Roeland and you will not be disappointed! We did 2 long private trips on consecutive days and were very impressed. We had time to stop wherever, we could choose to sit inside or outside the vehicle and the scenery was stunning. The waterfalls, sunbirds, caves, Prince Albert, wine tasting, the Gamkadam and the gorge were super. This must be... More

An experience of a lifetime! Beautiful views, but a sore bum the next day. Well run by Backpackers Lodge, all equipment included, just watch out for crazy South African motorists once you get onto the main road. Only the first 10km's is downhill, the other 44km's are gentle slopes. We stopped, ate and swam at a tea garden on the... More
