Just been to Swartberg Pass for the umpteenth time. I never get tired of going there. It is a 42 km drive from Cango Caves to just about 5 km before Prince Albert Town. The mountain scenery starts unfolding in front of you within about 6 km and it is ever-changing. The colours of the miountain s change at every... More

Roeland and his 4x4 Swartberg Pass tours are the highlight of any visit to Oudtshoorn and I can't recommend it strongly enough. A full day consists of 3 main things to see: First up and over Swartberg Pass where Roeland explains all sorts of fascinating aspects of the pass, stops many times for photos and to allow you to walk... Booked a solo tour to Die Hell with Roeland who kept apologising for the single cost, but compared to the normally disappointing game park drives AND the new runflat tyre it cost me for a day trip around the Pilansberg Game Park, the tour was more than worth it. We left at 09.00 from the guest house and arrived back... More

I wasn't sure whether to do the Pass in my VW Polo hire car or to do the guided tour with Roeland in his 4x4. In the end, fearing for the health of the Polo and keen to learn as much about the Pass as possible, I opted for the latter. I definitely made the right choice. The Polo would... More

Booked a private tour with Roeland. He was great. Taught me a lot about the geology and fauna. He knows the pass really well and is very enjoyable. Nice guy. Definitely recommend. Price-wise, best if you have at least two people.

We had booked the 3 hour trip only for the Swartberg pass. Roeland was on time at our hotel to pick us with his 4x4(Seems like a new one). He explained everything in detail and kept us engaged while also giving us enough time to enjoy the pass. His invisible bird kept my son(3 year) on his toes :). He... More

We booked a private day tour with Roeland from the UK- we had a fantastic full day, being picked up from our guest house at 9am and returning back at 6pm. Before driving up through the mountain pass we visited a farm where we rode some camels and then moved onto a tour of Cango Caves. The mountains are stunning... More

My 19 yr old daughter and I took the day long private tour of Swartberg Mountain Pass with Roeland. Roeland was extremely friendly, insightful and enthusiastic. The tour included a stop at an ostrich farm and Cango Caves (both of which I would highly recommend) and lasted from 9am until 6pm (we had to reign Roeland in or he would... More

Roeland took us to the Swartberg Pass today. He was a national tour guide and had lots of knowledge of the country, its geology and flora and fauna. He cares about human being and has a good heart. We had a good time with him and thoroughly enjoyed the magnificent Swartberg Pass today.

I exchanged many emails with Roeland and he gave me the perfect choice on how to cover the best of Oudtshoorn - Cango caves, Ostrich farm, Swartberg mountains and then drop me off to Kynsna. Unfortunately due to a delay in the flight I had to forego the Pass tour. But Roeland took me home, introduced his wife (who also... More
