What an amazing beach this is! It is huge and there were probably 20 people on it. Two para gliders swirled over head. We had a great hamburger lunch with a bottle of wine for £12 for two of us at the Haven hotel overlooking the bay. The Indian Ocean was sparkling. Heaven!

Lovely spot from which to start a walk along the beach to Buffalo Bay. Good parking, refreshments available if needed, safe beach BUT no swimming directly from Brenton due to rip tides. There is lifeguard cover about 1 km along the beach - well worth the walk.

Now that they have rebuilt a Hotel there, is also so worth going to visit, after walking on the beach and watching the sunset, it was so nice to go and have a couple of sundowners on the stoep of the hotel also highly recommend it.

nice beach, with a lifeguard, very basic shower and toilets. The hotel just above has an OK restaurant and deli / coffee shop.

The jury's out on the length of this walk. I'll bring my GPS sports watch next time but it's probably at least 5 kms each way. It's very easy walking, no rivers to cross and firm sand when we went so we did it both ways. Otherwise, you'll have to leave a car at the other end. The not-so-nice restaurant... More

Very nice and lonley beach. The current can be very strong and dangerous. Swimming is just allowed in special areas where life guards watch the beach.

Spectacular setting with a sweeping bay and glorious sunset on the decks of the very stylish new bar/restaurant/hotel.

We unfortunately did not stay there, but we did spend the day at Brenton, had some lunch at the local restaurant which makes the best bunny chow!!! and took a walk around. The next time we are in Knysna, we will most definitely stay in the Cottages! Views are to die for!

It's our 5th time to Brenton on Sea and we were not disappointed. Weather was not too kind to us but that's nature, although there are lots of walks that are ideal for overclouded days. Not sure why it has been mentioned that you cannot swim in Brenton as they have life guards and lots of swimmers. It's not as... More

We spent 4 nights in Brenton over the New Year weekend (2014-2015) and loved every second of our time there. The views are stunning, the 5km beach walk is food for the soul and the proximity to the attractions around the Knysna area make this the ideal holiday stopover. We will be back!
