We drove up to the top of the east head from Knysna and we both felt it was worth the drive. Roads were good and the way well marked. The views off the cliff were spectacular. The view platforms and steps were good. Make sure you continue on the same road when you are through enjoying the views from the... More

My husband and I had the absolute pleasure of having lunch at East Head Café on Friday, 1 May 2015. The views from the patio of the restaurant just begged us to explore the bottom part of the heads. After a superb meal we walked down to the rocky shoreline with magnificent views of the lagoon. It was magnificent to... More

If you're a visitor to Knysna, this is one place you just cannot leave out of your tour. Take George Rex Drive on the Plett side of town, and head along there as far as you can go (past the right hand turn off to Leisure Island – which is an interesting diversion in itself). Take the right turn at... More

The drive up to the Knysna Heads is fun - through the houses in close proximity on both sides of the road until you arrive at a smallish car park. Then take the short walk down to the viewing points - what a spectacular view awaits. On the sunny day we visited the water in the sea and lagoon was... More

We only went to the right side but the beach was amazing and not crowded. The tide was coming in with a couple of fishermen plying the waters for a catch. Quite nice.

unspoilt , beautiful coastline . the featherbed nature reserve is a must visit. it includes a launch across the estuary (it's not a lagoon!), a 4X4 trailer ride through the reserve and a 2.2 km hike, as well as lunch, and return ferry.

Lovely view from the heads of both the ocean and Knysna lagoon. If you are lucky you'll see a boat coming through the heads and just how well they have to navigate in order not to get smashed against the rocks. Definitely worth the drive up there. Not suited for wheelchairs or old people as it is quite steep and... More
