Ella and Penny, our guides on the Knysna township tour, gave us a very informative and entertaining tour of the township, showing us and telling us about the good als well as the bad things in the township. The fact that part of the money earned is used to help the children in the township, is a bonus.

Informative, and a different take on life. Worthwhile to see how much is being done to make a difference to others who are not as fortunate as we are.

I must be honest, I was quite apprehensive about going for a tour of Knysna Township as I felt it would be a little intrusive. I can now confidently say I enjoyed every moment! Ella greeted us with a welcoming smile and very warm attitude. She informed us with a little history of the township and showed us all the... More

Must say, I was really reluctant about doing a township-tour for the sole reason I feel like I am invading their privacy.. But am I glad I went. Both Penny and Ella from Emzini Tours showed us around. Ella lives in the township, she showed us the community, the library, primary school, and her own home. She is really entertaining... More

We decided to book this tour since we found a leaflet in our accommodation and we are glad we did! Ella and Penny are super friendly guides. They showed us around and it changed our view on how life in townships can be. Since they are also taking care of abused children this tour is a real must for everyone... More

To be frank we were not sure about visiting a township. Thank goodness we did! This company (Emzini) combines a charity to help children born to parents who are in difficulty (drug abuse, AIDS, alcoholism) with educational tours. I learnt so much and feel really enriched by my visit. Our tour guides Penny, Nicholas and Ella were informative, friendly and... More

This tour gave such a great insight into life in the township, and supports the amazing work Ella and Penny are doing amongst the communities there. And so much fun! We'd definitively recommend you ask for the option of staying for lunch afterwards (an option mentioned on the website but some of the tourist offices forget to mention it). We... More

We enjoyed spending an afternoon with Ella and Lynn, visiting the township where Ella and her family live. Ella was able to give us information about the community (jobs, housing, schools, community resources, etc) and was open to answering our questions about life there. It was a great way to learn more about life in South Africa today.

Originally, we didn't want to do a Township tour out of respect for the people, but then we got Emzini recommended by another traveling couple. If Knysna is one of your destinations, we suggest to do a tour with Emzini. The ladies are wonderful and combine this informative tour with a charity. Not a single kid that didn't get a... More

This trip combines a worthwhile charity project with a chance to understand modern life in the townships. Penny, Ella, Nicholas and the rest of the Emzini team create a memorable experience for tourists providing both education and a richness in experience. The tour was both hopeful and inspirational. Well done and thank you!
