we went on this tour with the 2 most amazing ladies , Ella and Penny . We were able to inter relate with the real people living in this shanty town , which overlooks the goergeous Knysna bay ,We met the beautiful toddlers in the nursery school , their dedicated teachers and town youths and adults .They had to drag... We went on this tour with basic expectations - to see a township, meet some locals, etc. what we got was so much more! Ella and Penny are a great team. The work they do in the community is incredible. The tour itself is informative but in a personal way...definitely not textbook style! We hope to visit again and help... More

After beeing a little bit sceptic and after some consideration we decided to visit the Township of Knysna. It was a visit we will never forget. The entusiasm shown by our hostesses Penny and Ella was amazing. For us coming from a Scandinavian social democracy with very few differences between it's citizens the visit was both educational, interesting and emotional.... More

Ella and Penny who help run Emzini the Township on the hill overlooking Knynsa provided us all with great incite into how the township is progressing toward all children being educated and having access to free medicine.,The children we saw and there were many , all looked healthy happy and like all kids looking forward to a few lollies. When... More

The tour is excellent! People are very committed and money gets reinvested in human and animal welfare. An absolute must do.

The tour itself is excellent and really powerful. I don't want to spoil anything but I'll just suffice to say you won't be disappointed and the more you put in to this tour the more you will take away from the experience. The only thing that could be improved is the pickup spot could be a bit more organized.

A very worthwhile way to spend a couple of hours, and it's great to see first-hand how the money made by Emzini gets reinvested into the township to help local people. Knysna's a small town and the township is a (comparatively) small one, which means that the progress that is being made is perhaps more visible here than elsewhere. But... More

Ella is an inspirational lady and along with driver Penny we felt completely welcome and had an enjoyable, informative and eye opening tour of a township. Visiting Ella's home, meeting the children she looks after and being entertained was a pleasure. You really must do this if you are in the Knysna area! Allow more than 3 hours if you... More

We spent an incredible 3 hours with 6 other tourists and Ella as our guide. What an inspirational lady! We had the benefit of her incredible knowledge and passion for the rights and needs of the people living in this township. We learned a great deal about the impact of apartheid and the experience of post-apartheid south Africa for the... More

We were the only two on this particular tour so had great attention from our 2 guides. We found it to be a great insight into life in the townships. The joy these people have is an eye opener and is a must for all those who visit South Africa and Knysna jn particular. To meet the kids that Ella... More
