This township tour was inspiring, not only because it showed us the continuing problems plus the progress being made to improve living conditions in S. Africa but also for introducing us to the project to provide a loving home for children-at-risk (alcoholic/abusive parents) and to encourage others to attend school by financing uniforms etc. Ella and her partner in this... Visiting a township is a must to see how so many people in South Africa live. I highly recommend this tour because the proceeds fund safe houses for women and children, a soup kitchen, and animal rescue programs within the township. Our guides were straightforward and informative, inviting us to ask any questions we had. We visited a shop, salon,... More

I won't repeat the details of the tour as other reviewers have already provided these. Suffice to say that it was marvellous and that Ella and her colleagues are inspirational in the work that they do. Thank you for the tour and best wishes with your future good work.

The guide Ella gave us an interesting tour and insight to the townships and their development! We saw the huts of the poor and how the government is trying to help and develop this part of Africa! In the end we visited her home where she raises kids that can't be with their own family for whatsoever reasons. Recommended!

Ella is one of the most inspirational people I have met. She gave us a wonderful tour of the Knynsa Township and made us feel like friends calling in for a visit. Her own story is humbling too. We heard how she made something of her life after a very difficult start and how she is now able to use... More

We missed the tour in Cape Town so took advantage of doing one while in Knysna. What struck me was how differently the interaction and integration of multiple races are developing in SA compared to the US. Too much to explain here- I encourage anyone who has the opportunity to take a township tour. THe only reason I gave this... More

This was like a drive around a neighbourhood with a friend who lives there. We learnt lots from Ella, Penny and the people we met. We interacted with the children, visited shops like a hairdresser and saw those amazing braids being created, popped into a soup kitchen where local ladies volunteer to prepare the food for children and met children... We had a ball on our afternoon with Penny and Ella. These ladies are amazing, kind, generous and funny people. We learnt a lot about the history of the township and how things work in the community. I loved that we got out and mingled with the people, visiting a local hairdresser and grocery store. Penny is a softie with... More
