We visited the museum during our visit to the Garden Route. First of all they had no change at the reception when I wanted to pay. But the lady let us in and said she must just find change. During our stroll through the museum we saw 2 locked rooms with train sets and with beautiful scenic tracks where yoy... More

I really enjoyed my visit to this museum. There is wonderful exibits that transports you back in time to a place where things were a lot more simple. We also went on the Power Van outing. This was a unique experience that I would do again!

In an unassuming warehouse in George you will see a wide diversity of historical trains and carriages - from ambulance train cars to the carriage that transported the young Queen Elizabeth of England. Definitely worth a visit.

My mum loved this place, as she reminisced about her days taking the train to work. The museum is at a Transnet location and the trains are superbly kept. It was like travelling back to some weird time. Some of the trains were open for viewing as well. Must-see when in George

We decided to stop at the museum after our trip from Sedgefield. When we entered you could see the time they put into making this place a reality. All the information was educating and informative. My personal favorite was the retro cars display with amazing classical cars. It was money well spent and certainly fun.

Living in George, I am very priviliged to be able to visit the Outeniqua Transport Museum whenever I have time. I love old cars, and specifically old trains. My grandfather used to work for the old Transnet, and as a small child I used to travel with him on shorter train trips. The museum is full of history and memories,... More

A great museum showcasing South Africa's railway history. Immaculately preserved trains and emergency vehicles as well as an extensive collection of exotic cars. Hard to locate but definitely worth the effort!!

It was wonderful to arrive at the museum and see two large Beyer-Peacocks outside in good condition. The museum was well laid out with a very good collection of steam engines, carriages and classic cars. A pity that an illustrated guide has not been produced.

Went with my wife and 4 children 6 and under. The model trains is well worth the visit. We left after 2 hours because the children were getting hungry and we did not have cash. Make sure you take cash, and small change for the car guards. There is a good selection of engines, vehicles of years gone by. The... More
