We went late in whale season, mid November, but got an awesome experience for the entire family incl a 4 and a 6- year old. Southern right whales, humpback whales and bridal whales - all up close! The kids were ever so excited about riding the boat along thousands - yes thousands!- of common dolphins playing around. We were told... More

In Hermanus there are, I believe, three companies that take you out to see whales up close with all very different service levels as we could see out on the sea. After arriving we had little time to arrange a tour boat so we chose the closest to our parking spot. Unfortunately this was the wrong choice.. Unlike the others,... More

If you come during whale viewing season, then DO it!! We had all of a sudden around 20 whales around the boat, with a mother whale and its baby on her stomach ride beside us!! it was terrific! But also the small town is beautiful, the coast a dream! Actually all the way from Strand you should stay on the... More

We had a great time watching the whales! the guide was very enthusiastic and encouraged us all to stand up and look for the whales. they served free beverages and snacks, which was nice. we also picked the best time of the year, September, so we got to see lots of whales from very near! :-)

Had a great trip to see the whales close up, and you do get very close. Great experience, worth paying for but it isn't cheap. No guide with this team, so fairly basic...other operations do have commentary but this is fine if you don't need the chat

Almost didn't do this trip as had seen whales from the cliff path. Wow we saw possibly 20 whales, and at one point ,as we were drifting with engines off,as we were close to 5 whales and did not want to disturb them, three whales surfaced right next to our boat, and even bumped it gently as they moved around... We weighed anchor and rode out for about 20 minutes to Kleinmond where we must have seen at least 30 whales in maybe 4 or 5 different groups, we came withing touching distance of these monsters of the deep, their grunts and growls (which I didn't know about) I shall never forget. A must if you go to Hermanus, drop... More

My husband and friend went out for a whale watching tour with a tour group. Me being the sea sick person that I am had the only choice of being on shore. I parked in the Hermanus town near the restaurants. I sat at the peak watching spot and saw over 8whales. all swimming close to the shore so you... More
