There were so many whales in the bay but by the time we boarded there was a stiff wind!! There was an informative talk before the cruise about whales and what to expect. Safety is a priority and we were all issued with bright orange life jackets. Trip is quite expensive but we were given a pensioners discount. Remember to... More

Went whale watching with this company and had a wonderful time. Staff were more than helpful from start to finish. Saw the first whale within minutes of leaving the harbour. Soon afterwards another whale entertained us by lobtailing repeatedly. Felt safe on the boat. Thank you to all at Hermanus Whale Cruises. We will be back!

The boat was new and so were the life jackets - everything was very well run and safely managed. It was quite a big boat, which took away from the intimacy I would have preferred on a trip like this which is relatively expensive considering numbers on the boat of around 70 pax. However it was absolutely worthwhile to get... More

having booked a day trip to Hermanus especially to see the whales and preferably from the sea we were advised that due to the wind that the boats may not be sailing, which despite me not being a good sailor would have been very disappointing, as it was they were sailing, thought they did say we would not be out... If you are in Cape Town and the weather is fine (check it online, and call them in advance), you must reserve one morning for whale watching: it was the highlight of my visit to South Africa as we were able to watch several whales a few meters away playing with themselves (flapping tails, flippers, rolling, etc). Take into account... More

At the end of our three-week African safari, we took a whale-watching jaunt out of Hermanus. The whales (Southern Right Whales, to be precise) were numerous and not shy being around these boats we even got to watch the mating rituals! The only big issue we faced were the waves - we had high seas the day we were there,... More

This is such a great trip-although quite expensive-about £40pp it is really worth it. You go out on the boat for 2 hours and you see so many whales. We went in august which I think is a great time to see whales. We even saw a whale breach (jump out of the water) it was amazing. The boat is... More
