We visited at the beginning of November and were a little bit nervous that the whales might have moved on, but we were very lucky because we found a mom and baby! We headed out on slightly rough seas, but you don't even notice it because of the excitement of what's to come! we eventually pulled up to another boat... More

Our hostel booked this up for us the day before we were supposed to go on this trip at 9am, get there nice and early 8:15 to be told our names were not down so we drive back to the hostel and the lad tried ringing them but they weren't answering the phone! We decided to go back down there... More

Organised and safety conscious operation. The guy doing the commentary was excellent and had a good sense of humour. We got to see a number of whales and a mother and calf very close up so no complaints there. Whole event was under two hours so could perhaps have been slightly longer although we saw what we came for. Would... More

I suppose if you are in Hermanus in October then you have to go whale watching, but it’s really nothing special. >2 hours just to see the back of a whale and a calf for 10 minutes, all for R1400 for 2 = £35/head - expensive by SA standards. We had a better viewing by chance in Table Bay on... More

I rated this activity as average, because Hermanus lives to its reputation of best land-based whale watching in the world so well, that you don't really need to get onto a boat to get great views of the whales, especially considering that as the boats are not allowed to navigate in the bay itself (which is where most of the... We went whale watching on 7th Oct 2015, and just like another review on here, the water was quite choppy that day and this company was the only one going out on the water in the afternoon (perhaps this should have been the first alarm bell). However, we only had one day in hermanus so my friend and i opted... More

A two hour boat trip from Hermans new harbour. fantastic that the whales ate here and that they are coming back annually. we seen about 10-12 individuals but most of the time they're under water and you don't see all that much of them.

Such a lot is outside the boat owners control that a poor rating seems hash but reflects my feelings ... our boat was packed, in fact we were asked to wait 15 mins to allow another 10 people to arrive. The other passengers were very noisy, stood up and crowded around all the key viewing points making it difficult for... More

We visited Hermanus on 5th October 2015 and took a whale watching tour with Hermanus Whale Cruises - I'm sorry to say we had a dreadful experience. Before I explain, I would just like to pre-qualify by saying that I do not complain lightly - a quick glance at my other reviews will show you that I am an abundantly... More
