My visit to Spier and the Cheetah outreach center was to have been one of the highlights of my trip, but turned out to be rather dissappointing. OK, I know big cats sleep most of the day, but none of the cheetahs even opened their eyes while I was there so it was not a very interactive experience. Having guides... more

If you have time this is a worthwile way to spend an afternoon. Everyone there is very knowlegable about cheetahs and if you go at the right time of year you will see some very young cubs. My wife and I visited the Cheetah Outreach centre in 2007. No visit to this part of South Africa would be complete without taking the opportunity to see (and stroke!) the Cheetahs there. Don't miss it! more

The Cheetah outreach facility is on the Spier Estate , one of the leading South African wine producers, which incorporates not only the vineyards but a number of other interesting activities. At the outreach facility you are able to see cheetahs close up and actually enter their compounds to touch them. When we were there there were 5 baby cubs... more

At Spier, about 20 minutes from town I visited the " Cheetah Project" and you go into the cage with a cheetah an touch it! I had no idea that this moment would be so strong and wonderful. Don´t miss it. more
