Best place, by far, to view the African penguins. But there are so many fewer than 10 years ago! What is happening? I wish that were part of the interpretation. It would be a nice addition.

If you love the ocean and seeing seabirds, then this is absolutely the place to be. What a delightful experience. My first time ever seeing penguins out of captivity. The South African black footed penguins on the beach would make anyone smile. It's donkey-like bray gives it a widely used nickname that Trip Advisor would not allow me to submit.... More

Beautiful landstrip that has many different beaches in between the rocks. Don't miss the Penguin walk and keep an eye out for the Dassies that are laying on the rocks to get the heat from the sun. Bring a picnic basket and enjoy the whole day there. There is a train from central Cape Town to Simon's Town that I... More

Only go when the sun is shining. While it is interesting to see the penguins it does not last long. Our three you boys quickly wanted to leave. It is something one feels one must do when in Cape Town but we will not be back. If you have never seen them then one visit is worthwhile.

When we thought of Africa, we thought heat, big game, NEVER penguins! What a treat!! Boulder Beach is a must for animal lovers. Seeing penguins in the wild, so close, so adorable....don't miss it!

we were amazed to see a big colony of penguins at the boulder's beach. A pair of stranded penguins have found a home in the boulder's beach and they have bred and developed into a large colony .The beach id cordoned off with walking platforms so that the birds might not be disturbed..We saw the parents and the chicks ,... As you are traveling about South Africa, be sure to visit Boulders Beach. It is a beautiful area where the African penguins have settled. You can view the penguins very closely as you walk along the boardwalks. We visited Boulders Beach on our way back up to Cape Town after our visit at the Cape of Good Hope. There a... More
