Very pleasant lunch. Top marks for service which was very attentive, efficient and discreet. Had the sirloin with polenta prepared in fun /unusual way ( you will have to go there to find out). The salmon fishcake starter was outstanding.

We set out to do wine tasting at two wine farms today but ended up only doing Glen Carlou. The Chardonnay at the latter farm is one of our favorites so we were set out knowing it would be a good bet. What awaited us was beyond expectation. Firstly the reception / welcome was very professional. The our local sommelier,... More

Glen Carlou is situated on the Klapmuts/Simondium road in the picturesque winelands district of Cape Town. This area is strangely hidden if you don't know about it - both Franschhoek and Stellenbosch have detailed maps of their areas, while this section and Paarl warrant the adventurous to go and explore a bit. My stated opinion has been formed due to... More

Our experience at this ( Swiss Estate) Vineyard was really substantive. The staff member was so knowledgeable....and we focused on three.....the Estate Chardonnay, the Grand Classic Bordeaux Blend and the Chenin Late Harvest. As we enjoyed the tasting, the panoramic view of the vineyard was so beautiful that it almost distracted one from the tasting. Then, before leaving, we visited... More

Great if you're Afrikaans, if you not, you just get ignored at the wine tasting. Such a pity, really liked the wine, just won't buy and support poor service

A great Estate close to the N1 and a direct 40 minute drive to Cape Town City Centre. Superb setting and exquisite views of the Franschoek Mountains. The restaurant opens to a wide outdoor patio, modern contemporary surroundings and very spacious dining area. The menu is not very big and there was no steak dish which was unusual as we... More

We arrived in time for lunch on the veranda. What a great view. We selectethe suggested wine pairings witht he entrees which were beautifully done. My grilled ostrich turned out to be a great choice. After lunch we tasted in the very modern tasting room. The wines were very good and our tasting guide was attentive and informative. We ended... More

I took a party of 14 people for lunch today at this beautiful venue. The staff attending to our table Anthony in particular was excellent. However here comes the bad news--------- The food took ages and ages to arrive and the lunch eventually took two hours. We gave up and cancelled the desert It is such a pity that these... More

After trying and loving the Chardonnay a couple of years ago, I was excited to visit the estate for lunch and to try the rest of the wines on offer. I have to say there was not a single average wine. They were all delicious but my favourites are of course the classic Chardonnay and the Petit Verdot Tannat. The... More
