Great if you're Afrikaans, if you not, you just get ignored at the wine tasting. Such a pity, really liked the wine, just won't buy and support poor service

A great Estate close to the N1 and a direct 40 minute drive to Cape Town City Centre. Superb setting and exquisite views of the Franschoek Mountains. The restaurant opens to a wide outdoor patio, modern contemporary surroundings and very spacious dining area. The menu is not very big and there was no steak dish which was unusual as we... More

We arrived in time for lunch on the veranda. What a great view. We selectethe suggested wine pairings witht he entrees which were beautifully done. My grilled ostrich turned out to be a great choice. After lunch we tasted in the very modern tasting room. The wines were very good and our tasting guide was attentive and informative. We ended... More

I took a party of 14 people for lunch today at this beautiful venue. The staff attending to our table Anthony in particular was excellent. However here comes the bad news--------- The food took ages and ages to arrive and the lunch eventually took two hours. We gave up and cancelled the desert It is such a pity that these... More

After trying and loving the Chardonnay a couple of years ago, I was excited to visit the estate for lunch and to try the rest of the wines on offer. I have to say there was not a single average wine. They were all delicious but my favourites are of course the classic Chardonnay and the Petit Verdot Tannat. The... More

Glen Carlou is a modern structure -- quite unlike the white Cape Dutch architecture of most wineries in the area. Excellent tasting with knowledgeable servers. Views. First rate dining. And then there is the gallery of modern art. And below that is a room filled with ovoid concrete wine casks -- quite unlike anything we saw elsewhere. Definitely worth a... More

It was 1120 and tables reserved for lunch. Surely not all ten tables will be occupied and when we left at twelve it still was not!! Rude ubfriendly... More

Stunning views and delicious wine at very reasonable prices. The best part was having Janine talk us through the tasting. She was knowledgeable and social and it felt like chatting to and getting to know a new friend over a good glass of wine. To the owner and senior management of the estate, she's superb with your guests.

I absolutely adore the wine tasting venue at Glen Carlou. The wine is fantastic, tasting room staff are knowledgeable and the view from the venue is magic. Plan to spend some time there, tasting wine and then buy a bottle of your favourite and enjoy it on the balcony. We've only had a meal at the restaurant once but it... More
