Walking up on a Saturday late afternoon, you get great views of the sunset. It's ideal to take persons here if it's their first hike, as it's fairly short. You can work on 1 hour up and 45 minutes down. But you still need good shoes and something warm to wear after the sunset. It's great fun if going with... More

We visited Cape Town in winter, so the reliability of accessing Table Mountain is poor. The aerial car was down for maintenance and the top was covered in clouds 3 of 5 days. We opted for Lion's Head and are glad we did! The hike was quite enjoyable including, paths, rocks, ladders, staples and chains. We got a good workout... More

The hike up to the top there is not the easiest, but its a fast one. You should plan 2 hours for up an down again. And the view is amazing!

Most people are pointed in the direction of Table Mountain for scenic views. I am certainly not knocking Table Mountain but the trek up Lion's Head is fantastic. The climb is not too onerous and the rewards in terms of views are spectacular. The 360 vista is amazing once up there. Free parking, free walking - a must in Cape... More

Absolutely stunning views on the whole of cape town! Love this hike so much, it's a tough one during some parts but you get to the top in 1h. You will have to rock climb during a few bits so wouldnt reccomend this to people who are afraid of hights but otherwise, go for it!

Its free and magnificent. Dont take tons of expensive goodies with you and keep your wits about you. Crime isnt nearly as bad as people say it is but it is still south africa. Totally worth the quick hike up. Full moon is best and lots of people up there too with you every day. A must for visitors and... More

This is one of the best places in Cape Town, a pleasure trail with a perfect view. In the top you can see the city and the Table Mountain. I recomend a night trail during the full moon.

The walk to the very top of Lion's Head shouldn't take more than and hour and a half. Care should be taken when using the chains or ladder to reach the very top. Pack something to eat and drink and definitely something warm to wear if one will be doing the full moon hike.

We only had time to do one hike while in Cape Town and we chose Lion's Head after hearing from several others that it was not only a more manageable hike, but that you get a great view of Table Mountain itself. It was mostly cloudy on the hike up, but one thing we learned while in Cape Town was... More

It's one of the most scenic hikes in the city - the view from the top is amazing! And its so peaceful up there. It can get a bit crowded on holidays and weekends but the thing about CT hikers is that they are a very polite and respectful bunch of people.
