I've been up Lions head 5 times and table mountain 3. Lions head is just so much better in every way. Firstly, it's free but it requires a hike that can be done in under an hour for the able. Second, the peak is small so when you finally get up, it just feels so much more special and quaint.... More

A challenging uphill walk with a little bit of hiking and rock climbing at the end, rewards you with spectacular views.

THe walk up was fine, about an hour, stopping for photos. The walk down in the dark with torchlight was slower and tougher on the knees. But walking up and sitting watching the sunset over the Atlantic and then walking across the Head and sitting watching the full Moon rise was breath taking. Out of this world. Spectacular, fun filled... More

Great views, an excellent work out. Have to be OK with exposure, climbing ladders, using handholds and hanging onto chains.

At a steady pace with a knee that had surgery 5 monthes prior it took 50 minutes to the top. Great view. I had heard of Lion's Head from a mate I had played Rugby with in Toronto ... Was on my list for Cape Town.

On average if you pace it very slowly you will reach the top of lion's head in 40 minutes. This climb is very easy and can even be done during full moon. You will even have the Cape Town Traffic Department on Stand By to help with all the traffic as it is such a popular full moon activity.

Lion's Head is a wonderful place from which to get perspective on Table Mountain - as well as lovely views of the rest of the city.

Amazing mountain, the view is fantastic. Sad history about the last lion in ZA. If you are going in winter, be sure to take a coat

A more than casual stroll on a spiral path ascending Lions Head gives you the most incredible views of the City, The 12 Apostles, and Table Mountain. My girlfriend has 2 historic knee injuries and found the walk to be within her comfort zone. We didn't reach the very top as it was 35 degrees and we'd seen all we... More

I read a lot of reviews and thought we could do this for sunset, it was steep off the bat and we gave up at the ladders, the thoughts of coming back down in the dark did not appeal at all. We ended up driving to Devil's Peak and watched the sunset from there, was amazing and comfortable. Unless you... More
