Beautiful views of table top from here, nice little walk although there is no where to buy water so you need to go prepared.

seen from all over the peninsula this outcrop is tempting to climb. Initially it is an easy walk along the contour path but closer the summit there are two ladders and then a steep ascent. Join the locals on full moon nights for sundowners but remember the torch for your descent.

Climbed with an 8 and 4 years old and they both made it to the top! Great outdoor activity if done under the sun. At some point you can choose 1 recommended way which we did for the kids to be able to continue to climb. Great afternoon!

Lion's Head starts out with a moderate incline on a dirt pathway and then get more of a rock path as you ascend. It took about an hour to get up there but locals say it's more like 1 hour 30 minutes to hike up. As you move up the mountain it gets steeper and there are big staple looking... More

What a lovely walk at full moon. It really is beautiful. Just a pity about all the people with their head torches blinding you as you go. It is full moon after all.

If you want a great view of Cape Town, then this is the place. It is settled almost in the centre of the city which mean you do not have to take a long drive to get there. I also sometimes run from my hotel up Lion's head - what a great run. Go with friends and enjoy the beauty... More

We arrived at the mountain an hour before sundown and made it to the top with about 20 minutes to spare. In July it was not very warm, and the wind made it pretty chilly, so bring a jacket. Also, if you go for sunset (do it!), it will definitely be dark on the way back, so bring a torch... More

We took the cable car up Table Mountain and saved our hike for Lion's Head. We are really glad we scheduled time for this hike. It wasn't terrible hard, but was challenging enough to make it fun for our teenage kids. There are some steep areas but there are metal ladders attached that make it very doable. The view is... More

This is an excellent hike to do whilst in Cape Town. It takes about an hour to climb to the top and is not good for people who have knee problems or suffer with vertigo. The first section of the climb is a steep slope which is a path but as you get further up the climb gets a lot... More

This is definitely one of the best spots if you are seeking great views over Cape Town. Since the table mountain is frequently in clouds, the Lion's Head usually stays cloudless. It is not as high as table mountain, but definitely worth climbing. You should not have a fear of heights though, the climb is quite steep to the very... More
