If you are not from Cape Town, you have to go walk up this mountain. Awesome views. The hike on a normal pace takes about 45-60 from the bottom to the top. Try and get to the top about 15min before sunrise. Police also patrol the bottom of the path and there is security cameras on your way up. About... More

Wonderful views, popular to watch sunrise and sunset, both breathtaking. It is easy accessible, walk goes from easy bottom part to challenging top part. Not for people who are afraid of heights. Narrow path with a long drop both ways when approaching the top. Go prepared - it is a mountain although in the middle of the city.

Take a bottle of wine and watch the sunset. Easy long climb with the most amazing 360 degree views. Walked with Hubby, daughter and Bizou the dog.

Lions head is great for a hike not just the experience but getting to see cape town from the top and a 360 degrees view as you hike around the mountain. Its good to go early at around 6am so you can catch the sunrise , the sunset is also lovely but it is much safer and advisable to go... More

Lions head is the real unsung star of Cape Town, a much more stunning outlook than its more famous & glamorous neighbor Table mountain, wonderful hike, if your lucky you can see paragliding from about 1/4 way up, Pretty narrow ledges as you get close to the top, as others have said not for children or the frail. The views... More

Lion's Head is (in my opinion) the best place for small hike. Hiked it 8 times now and the view is amazing and the hike itself is fun to do. I especially love the sunset/sunrise/full moon hikes on Lion's Head. Also really do-able for inexperienced hikers.

my wife and i climbed to the top on 09/23/14. it took 1 hour and 10 minutes to get to the top and 50 minutes to get down - we were moving at a pretty good pace. for novice climbers/hikers, allow more time. i'm not going to lie - the path is very narrow and dangerous toward the top. one... More

My husband and I hiked Lion's Head on our last day in South Africa. The guide books and brochures said it would take 60 to 90 minutes to hike the top and back, but it took us three hours because we stopped to take so many pictures! Every corner afforded us a new, stunning view of Cape Town, Table Mountain... More

A must do when visiting Cape Town. A beautiful national park for families, couples, runners, trekkers etc... With an amazing view of Cape Town, Table Mountain, the harbor and the coast. A bonus is to watch the sunset from this privileged spot on earth...
