Went to Cape Town on a recent work trip and stole a few hours on my last afternoon to take the sightseeing bus. The table mountain stop was a highlight- the cable car was a tiny bit scary but the whole experience provided wonderful views of the city and the ocean! The restaurant on top is busy but a good... Do this when in Cape Town and if you don't want to hike up the mountain. We do get a fair amount of wind in Cape Town, meaning that there will be long queues on the first nice day after the wind dies down. However, you can book tickets online. We opted to do the "sunset special" ie. tickets are... More

We pre booked our tickets and were glad we did as there was a very long queue waiting for tickets when we arrived at the lower station. We were able to bypass this and get straight onto the cable car. It's quite fascinating as the inside of the pod revolves so you get views all round as it ascends.

I am not sure what else one can say about Table Mountain and the cable car, other than "fantastic views". It seems a safe, comfortable, inexpensive ride and if you don't have the couple of hours I am advised it takes to walk up, nor maybe the fitness, it is a must-do in Cape Town. When it is windy the... This is one of those things you're "supposed" to do while in Capetown. We weren't sure until the last minute whether the weather would permit us to do it. Fortunately, the weather permitted. I've ridden on cable cars in several locations around the world, but this was the most interesting I've experienced. The mountain is practically a vertical ascent. The... More

Brill experience, but you must book before, even the same day. Online is very quick and easy. You go straight to the head of the line. The line without pre booked tickets is long.

Nice views from above! Pick a day with clear skies and as less wind as possible. If you are hiking - start out early - it gets really hot!

By far the best way to get to the top of Table Mountain - and down, unless you are very energetic! It is cheaper to book online. It takes about 5 minutes, the cab revolves so everyone has a good view. Not really scary!

Actually, if you are not climbing on foot, there is only cableway to take you up to the top. And its worth it. We came in the morning, so there were practically no queues, we easily got into and even had a ride with the restaurant band, which was additional and unexpected fun. There are nice views seen from the... More
