Breathtaking beauty in a peaceful environment. Kids get to enjoy the dinosaur section and the view from the Boomslang is worth the entrance fee. Take advantage of school holidays as kids get to go in free.

Nice collection of plants! segregated by their purpose. The glass house actually had some of the plants which were really unique in looks.

Wonderful gardens and walks, with a very traditional tea house on the grounds which is ideal for a lovely meal after you have enjoyed the walk in the african flowers and trees.

An absolute must for everybody visiting the mother city. We saw the dinosaur exhibition and were as excited as children. The most beautiful view in the morning sun from the 'boomslang' walk. The gardens are kept in great condition and the information boards are a great source of knowledge! And of course a Vida coffee at the end of the... More

Without any doubt, even the most hardened City Dweller will shake off the dust and fumes of city life when entering the Botanical Gardens of Kirstenbosch in Cape Town. The sceptic will find the open landscape and intriguing plants a tonic to a tired mind. The lungs can breath fresh air again. The mind can wonder beyond selfinflicted narrowmindedness, Thoughts... Gorgeous surroundings but very overpriced for what you get if you just want to walk through the gardens and get a bit of fresh air into your lungs. It's a pity - I'd love to go more often, and probably would if it was cheaper.

Was actually almost 25 years ago, but still remember the fabulous plant material, that few other climates can support. Looking forward to going back again.

On the final day of my recent Cape Town holiday, I visited Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens. We kick-started the day with brunch at Moyo, and then spent the next couple of hours wandering among the fynbos. The views from the Kirstenbosch Centenary Tree Canopy Walkway (aka “The Boomslang,” meaning tree snake) were simply jaw dropping.
