Great time spent at kirstenbosch- great picnic area and lots of different plants and bird life to see. Was awesome to walk on the new "boomslang" walkway which allows you to be amongst the tree canopy and offers the most amazing view from it. The mountains seem to be so close that you feel like you can actually reach out... More

We started our first day tour of Cape Town, to the Gardens, with our guide, Zakkie Parker, since Table Mountain was packed with tour buses. It was a perfect day with blue sky and lots of sun on May 22nd. We arrived about 10 am and had the place almost to ourselves. It was so peaceful and quiet. We chose... More

Huge gardens with an amazing diversity of fauna and flora with the Mountains as a backdrop - unmatchable beauty! The tree top canopy walk marks the 100th year of these Gardens and is a relatively short but memorable walk with scenic views of the mountains. The rest of the Gardens have so much to enjoy including surprising secret springs with... More

One of the best botanical gardens in the world and certainly the most beautiful botanical gardens in Africa. A must visit for any visitor to Cape Town during any season. Kirstenbosch was the first botanic garden in the world to be devoted to a country's indigenous flora and displays a wide variety of the unique plant life and bird species... More

If you have time, could hike all the way from table mountain cableway. The place is nice, but nothing too interesting if you are not in to plants.

It has been some time since we visited the gardens, we came to see the new "Boomslang" walkway, brilliantly done. Kirstenbosch will be a highlight for anyone visiting Cape Town.

Don't just go to Kirstenbosch thinking its a "boring garden". Fact is, it is nothing like it. With exotic plants, beautifully manicured gardens and a stunning backdrop, its a days visit in itself. Add to that the newly opened canopy walk is fantastic. A must do.

Wonderful smells and sights arouse your senses. Spend at least half a day exploring this remarkable respite. Take your time and smell the roses...although I don't remember any roses. Lovely casual experience.

If you like to wander and see the native plants of Africa (and a few Aussie ones also) The Kirstenbosch Gardens are worth a visit. With the magic backdrop of the Mountains, it makes for some fantastic photo opportunities. If you aren't up for walking for miles, pay a little extra and get the guided highlights tour - it's worth... More
