Bring your binoculars also as there are a myriad of birds. Grab a tour guide/docent and take the walking tour with a guide as it will enrich your experience

We went on a rather drizzly day and there were very few people there. We had the gardens to ourselves which was so peaceful. Great views from the walking bridge. Lots to see. We only spent a hour but it was worth the quick visit.

Even though it was raining when we walked through the park, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit! It is definitely worth the time.

This garden must be one of the most beautiful in the world. In addition we happened to go on a Tuesday and it was free for pensioners. Do go right up to the proteas and fynbos and do not miss tha cycads. The shop is truly a wonderful place for a South African presents

These gardens are just out of this world. The different Protea were in bloom as were the African Daisies. There are also some small species of wild life wandering around. The "Boomslang" bridge gives a lovely view of Cape Town. You need a good few hours there.

The gardens at Kirstenbosh are stunning in spring with wonderful expanses of glorious colour with mountains as their backdrop. We ate twice at Moho in the grounds of Kirstenbosh as it was quite simply one of the best experiences we had in SA. The garden itself is stunning and costs R50 to entry which you have to pay to eat... More

We made a special effort to visit this garden by getting there at 0800, just as it opened and this is a really good idea. It is not crowded so you can see the main sections (e.g. protea section) in relative peace before the crowds build up. You can then give the rest of this wonderful garden its rightful attention.... I was fortunate to visit this Garden (initially I thought it was just a botanical garden like others). As the saying goes, if you are not sure that you will go to heaven, visit this place. I think September may be the month where the flower flourish, I was mesmerized by the beauty of the garden. My soul still refreshed... More

Kirstenbosch was absolutely stunning in late September! We scheduled the 2 p.m. walking tour with Heidi, a very well-informed local volunteer. The history of the place is fascinating, but I won't spoil it for you here... you should hear and see it for yourself. The large grassy spaces are perfect for family picnics. Word to the wise: wear very comfortable... More
