Wonderfully laid out gardens with something to see for everyone (including the blind) yes you read correctly, they have a path specially laid out for the vision impaired visitor, with Braille plaques all along with the encouragement to smell and feel these plants too. The younger visitor will strangely enough not be bored here as there are rolling lawns for... More

The gardens, showcasing the indigenous flora of the Western Cape and Southern Africa, are nestled under the southern part of Table Mountain. They are spectacularly beautiful, superbly manicured and managed and offer a serene place to relax, walk, photograph plants and birds, enjoy good quality meals in the restaurants or take a picnic on the lawns. In summer Sunday evening... More

Whatever you do in Cape Town visit Kirstenbosch! Vast botanical garden on the slopes of Table Mountain near the Constantia wine country. In the Spring it is a feast for the eyes. On site restaurant is surprisingly good for an eatery at a tourist spot although the service is painstakingly old South African - unfocussedd and ever so slow!

It was raining when we visited, and the flowers were not in full bloom. As a result, our visit was something of a downer. We suspect that on a clear day with the flowere in bloom, the Gardens would be more than average.

Beautiful landscaped gardens and must be spectacular when in bloom. March is the not the best time to visit. Other areas to visit in Cape Town at that time of year. The gift shop is excellent. Check the garden's calendar for blooming schedule before visiting.

I have visited the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens several times - recent visit was in second week of April 2014 - I am always fascinated by the serenity and tranquility of the Garden. The plants, trees, lake and birds reminds me of the biblical garden of Eden. Most times I just lie on a blanket, and get in tune with... More

The spectacular beauty of Kirstenbosch is well known. A variety of blooms unequalled anywhere else in the world. This venue is not only a spot to visit for the breathtaking beauty which surrounds you and the ripple of the Leesbeck River, but at certain times visitors are treated to musical concerts of outstanding quality. I went for a concert featuring... More

I am a member of this garden so go as often as possible. There are new plants to be seen every month and it is interesting being steep with a terraced cycad grove at one place. Streams flow down the slopes in several places and an enormous variety of botanical species can be seen, enough to keep the specialist botanist... More

I've visited a number of times and always enjoyed, whether its for a walk (long or short) or to look at the massive variety of plants. If you want a true feel for the western cape I say this is a must visit. You'll be tired at the end though!

Kirstenbosch is a world class botanical garden. Only indigenous plants to South Africa are grown in the garden. There is always something in bloom and the attention to detail is phenomenal. The best time (if there is a best time) to visit is in the Spring (between August and October is prime time) as all the masses of Namaqualand flowers... More
