There is an important museum on the campus of the University of Cape Town -- the Heart Museum. In this building one can see the operating rooms, labs, offices, and a variety of other things connected with Dr. Christiaan Barnard who performed the first successful heart transplant in the world. Added information about the man and his work make this... More

UCT continues to be in the top 100 universities in the world. Beautifully located on the slopes of a Devils Peak in the Table Mountain Range.

As a student at uct myself, its an academic institution and unless you have a fondness of rude students and stairs, I would suggest you give it a miss. The buildings are beutiful, especially in the fall when the ivy turn red, but there's not much to do or see besides the exterior pf the main building. As an aspiring... More

In my view an appreciation for this attraction depends on the eye of the beholder and the point of view why you visit. The university stands majestically across the foot hills of the table mountain. I have two teenage kids and their ambition is to go to UCT, some of this ambition is from visiting this establishment. Visiting on a... More

Amazing architecture on this historic campus! Wish I was a student here - to have these views and Table Mountain in your backyard - WoW!

Having attended UCT for my Masters (2011-2013) I would not recommend it to tourists as the local public are hardly welcomed because of its lofty isolated position. There is a great view from outside of Jammie Hall but no decent cafes or restaurants on site and the library is not accessible to the public (or students who forget their student... More

I planned my trip to various parts of South AFRICA some time in advance, using TripAdvisor as a big source, I should have checked the comments that were made more recently. It is a nonsense to call this a Tourist Attraction. Dull, boring, a waste of time.

Decided to look at the Cape Town University as it is ranked 14th, when we arrived there was nothing worthy to see, it may be nice to study there as a student but not to visit as a tourist.

It is very irritating and misleading, when students rate their university in Tripadvisor as a tourist attraction. This is Trip-Advisor and not Student-Advisor. Rating your University high on Tripadvisor, just because you are student there, is like an insurance employee rating the headquater-building of his insurance company. The university has NOTHING to offer to tourists, and has no meaning for... More

I might be a bit biased, but this is the most beautiful university in SA, with a view to die for! I loved the fact that you could see just about the whole of Cape town
