Sandy Bay is the unofficial "nudist beach", kept private by no direct vehicle access. This highly inaccessible beach offers a tranquil setting and a good break for surfing.

A wonderfully wild place, a nature reserve with the Cape's unique fynbos vegetation going right down to the shore, a mixture of magnificent rocks and pure white sandy beaches. I've been to a few of the most highly rated, including Flamenco on Culebra, and Turks & Caicos—and this is still a real standout. There are no refreshments or facilities on... More

Don't be shy. Strip off and enjoy the air and the carefree ways of times gone by. Picnics are great here and do remember the sunscreen for all the bits. Check out where to stop for the dat and an early start ensures parking.

Firstly to mention Sandy Bay is a clothes optional beach ( nudist ) and a favorite for Gay & Straight to get an all over tan. It's is one of the most beautiful unbroken stretches of pure white sandy beach in Cape Town. Be warned pick pockets have been known to operate in the area waiting till your frolicking in... More

Sandy Bay was quite an experience and not for everyone. The beach itself is very beautiful. If you are not a very liberal person, this beach is not for you.

Not crowded when we went there due to rains. Sandy Bay is one of Cape Town's most inacessible beaches. The only way to get to Sandy Bay is via a 30 minute walk from the car park from Llandudno.

Seeing fernivy's comments reminds me of our visit in February 2015. (We had been previously.) On a Sunday afternoon, we went as far as the bay before the main beach. It was warm and there was a gentle breeze. There were about 6 m/f couples who seemed to know each other, a couple of lone ladies and several lone males.... More

During the first week in March my wife and I were in Cape Town again. We were a little apprehensive but were keen o visiting Sandy Bay again. A call to SANParks informed us that their officials did routine patrols daily, and there was no recurrence of our incident. We none the less took the precaution of not taking any... More

My wife and I visited SB in March this year. We were held up by a knife wielding young man and robbed. The police caught him 2 days later, but we are hesitant to go there again. Can anyone inform us whether robbers are still active in the area. It is a beautiful beach and we would not like to... More

This is a beautiful beach. Go during busy time as it is quite secluded. Would advise that you take the route from Lundadno and not from Hout Bay. The walk from Lundadno is flat while the route from Hout Bay is quite steep and a difficult walk. On the beach people mind their own business. Nobody has an issue whether... More
