The Clifton beaches are only 25 minutes away from downtown Cape Town. white sand and gigantic rocks dominate the beach. There is a lay-back atmosphere. Good lounge bars with relaxing ocean views,.

Fantastic beautiful beaches and bars around this area. Great trendy place to be. Highly recommend just be cautious of pick pockets. Bare in mind the contrast of rich and poor in Cape Town. I found this sad and hard how rich some people are and how poor and hard up living in squalor some others were. Big contrast. Beautiful place... More

Next to camps bay it's a tough choice between the beaches. Camps bays has lots of shops and restaurants but has no protection from the wind, whilst the reverse is true for Clifton. Clifton also has a more local feel to it. Go to both if you can!

One of the most beautiful clean beaches to sit on and enjoy the sunshine... The only thing not so nice is not being able to swim unless you dont mind the icy cold water of the Atlantic ocean!

The sand here is super white and it contrasts great with the turquoise waters, all of this coupled with table mountain looming over you, you have an amazing beach. If only the water was a bit warmer, and this is from someone who doesn't mind cool water. Two of my friends wouldn't even get in the water at all. We... More

It's a tanning beach but if you don't mind freezing your toes then by all means swim, lol. There are days when the water is warmer and swimming longer is pleasant but for most days a quick dip is all I can manage. The road is way up above the beach and there are lots of stairs to get down... More

Classic city beaches surrounded by beautiful people, lovely properties but very cold water! Clifton beaches need a car and parking might be a problem.

White clean sand and turquoise waters make this a little like the Med in Summer. Road side parking so dont leave too much in the car. A fabulous day on the Beach!

Beautiful beaches, clear water, clean sand. And you can sometimes see dolphins and whales. What's not to love?? We actually stayed in some apartments across the street to Clifton Beaches, so it was an easy trek. Great place to stay!

Given a hot summer's day Clifton should be avoided. It's packed with millions of people - all enjoying themselves. But not for me. I prefer to take to the beach in the early morning when the municipal staff are cleaning up for the day or the evening when the last people are packing up. Crossing from first across to fourth...
