Popular spot for locals and tourists, but can get overcrowded at the main restaurant. Small beach surrounded by mountains, seals, fishing boats, fresh seafood, pearls and tanzanite. Very family and pet friendly. Beautiful views.

..although Hout Bay is obviously a very wealthy neighbourhood the harbour area was very disappointing..it was dirty and overcrowded - it was Easter actually - there seemed no decent dining areas other than not very nice, simple food outlets..it was very difficult finding a decent spot and this was only achieved by taking a boat ride out to seal island..

I went to Hout bay buy bus 109 from town, its quite a small area compared to Camps Bay. The water is very clean, so swimmers are welcomed. Surrounded by views of the mountains and valleys from both sides. There are also a number of restaurant few meters from the beach, so make a perfect afternoon.

You can do so very much here. Take a boat to seal island, shop or get fish and chips.. Don't miss the pearl shop ladies - you can buy an oyster and they open it in front of you to get the pearl and if you are lucky you might get twins. Then you can put them in a basket... More

The place is like small fishing port with very excellent place to take lunch. The water here is pure and if you want to have some fun you will find person or two feeding seal...

parking is chaotic particularly on a weekend and or 'beach day'. Place is rather dirty and restaurants run down. Nice to access the docks and see the seals, apart from that better places to visit.

Nics to visit Hout Bay, all the historic shops, markets and a must do is to get some fresh fish take away or at one of the local restaurants. Walk on the harbour wall during a sunset is so beautiful...the colours of the boats and sky, spectacular

It was amazing and so pretty. The oceans look stunning from here and the drive all the way from Constantia to Hout Bay is really worth it purely for the view of the ocean.

this was my favorite beach town!! I would love to come back and stay for few days there! quaint little beach town with few restaurants, bar, shops.. it was a little bit chilly to stay on the beach but we had a walk and drinks at a cafe.

Have been a few times over the years but i feel the harbour area needs a new life again. Like a revamp , waters looking dirtier than before. Otherwise it was just than same as my previous visits.
