My husband grew up in Hout Bay so it was something of a trip down memory lane for him, and despite leaving 18 years ago, it still retains the feel of a small coastal town. It has a pretty beach and cute little main road with a surprising (for me) variety of shops and restaurants. We only stayed for about... More

Visited the harbour and Bay Harbour Market and enjoyed a great breakfast and cup of coffee. Lots of choices for breakfast and lunch and interesting market stalls to browse. Beautiful drive over “Chappies” to finish the experience.

I loved that place!! U can eat fresh seafood, take a bout ticket and sail to see the wild seals, and I heard you can even dive with them! There is also a market there which is unmissable!!... You can buy almost anything there.. souvenir, shoes, clothes, home stuffs, flowers, etc. there are also places inside to have drinks, to... More

This is really a place to catch a boat tour to seal island. The waterfront is really run down and boring. There is a mediocre native crafts mart in the open air. Don't get me wrong - the bay itself is still nice and whenever you can get a view it is a good one - not nearly as good... More

Hout Bay is looking terrible. The roads are falling apart, they are full of beach sand. The old harbour buildings are derelict and never mind the smell. Gosh....

Depending on which was you drive to the point, we came back up the west side and stopped of at Hout Bay for lunch atr the Mariners Wharf. We had some King Sized prawns with the lemon sauce and the PeriPeri on the side, delicous.. Whilst strolling on the beach later a seal came right up to the edge of... More

I had two hours to spare in the area and visited Hout Bay harbour. What a glorious way to spend a Saturday morning. I strolled along the harbour and simply enjoyed the sunshine and the abundant bird life. There were seals that came out for tasty morsels, being offered by the local fisherman. And to round off the outing...some delicious... More
