Hout Bay is a suburban paradise, situated between mountain and sea. The beach, particularly the side closest to the mountain, is sandy with easy and safe swimming. Restaurants abound - an old favourite is Chapman' Peak Hotel restaurant, another is Deli Delish. There are two markets - one on the green near the Hout Bay Hotel, which is not as... More

White sand beach and sea lions every where in the harbour... no need to take a boat to go and see any! A fish market and a line of old souvenir shops that make the place quite fun to visit, but it doesn't take much than 30min to see it all. The ride is nice along the seaside and enjoyable.

The old Hout Bay harbour is home for whalewatching trips and visits to watch penguins. But visiting in winter most boats were laid up. But a typical tourist market can be found here on Thursdays, and if you must buy some tourist tat to being home, her is as good a pace as any.

We came to Hout Bay looking for something to eat after a wonderful morning at world of birds as we arrrived we where greeted by unclean looking restraints and cafe's and the goods at the market looked tacky and unauthentic save yourself time just go further along to camps bay after a day of exploring the cape but world of... Visited September 2011. Not much of a popular tourist attraction which I liked. Had a nice market selling various things to buy as souvenirs. We took a boat ride round to see hundreds of seals! The sound they made were fantastic. We also saw a few whales as it was mating season.

Hout Bay Market rocks. We needed a change as we usually visit the Biscuit Mill. I loved the fact that it wasn't over-crowded and that on the day we went there was ample seating for our group. The food selection was superb - from my favourite Kudu biltong from Namibia to a spicy Thai soup at 10.30am to an almond... More

I went with my family that live in Cape Town to visit Hout Bay and Have a delicious fish and chips lunch. We had a good wander around and looked at the craft that they have there. Have brought a reminder home from there to New Zealand a lovely wood craving of Africa which now has pride of place in... More

The setting of Hout baai is unparalleled, though I found the Hout baai market a little pretentious and the seafood at the harbour overpriced and unexceptional. Dunes Restaurant on Beach Rd more than made up for my experience at the Harbour though. The beach also has wonderful views but was dirty!

Been there many times before and its definitely worth going. At the harbour you will find the fishermen having their own live seal show happening. They will charge if you want to have your picture taken. Also check out the restaurants around there and try the fish and chips. Cape Town traditional food. The views are breath taking. And if... A great little town to take a day out and enjoy the drive. Many things to see such as the Bay Harbour Market, DARG animal shelter and the harbour itself, which has a tame seal that you can feed.
