the quaint little fishing town has grown up but still has the fishing town experience lots on offer to see and eat and off course being the fishing town a trip to hout bay would be incomplete if one did not eat fish. the drive to hout bay along the coast line is fantastic with unparallelled sea views and many... If you are coming from or are going to do the Chapmans Peak drive, you definitely want to consider this a stop over. At the foot of the mountain and right next to the beach is the Mariner's Wharf restaurant, highly recommended, maybe a bit pricey but worth it, the fish is delicious!

This time round's visit to Houtbay included visiting World of Birds as well as Mariner's Wharf Grill restaurant. It was amazing, althought the weather was a bit on the dreary side I preferred this with all the walking we did. The atmosphere is great, there was a marimba band playing on the pier while we were having lunch that just... More

This is a little gem, hidden away from the busy city. The road over Constantia Nek is rather narrow and slow during peak hours, but if you have the time it is very pretty. The other road along the coast is lovely and the one over Chapmans Peak has great scenic views! In the town area there are numerous little... More

The blue bus tour drops you off here and it was a bit disappointing, there was an antique shop selling nautical ephemera, very pricy - and a café. A short walk round the building brought you to a marina where a market was held but it was packing up at 12.30. I wanted to go to seal island on the... More

Very nice town to spend some time shopping and enjoying the restaurants and sight seeing. If you love the sea you can take a boat out to seal island.

We stopped here before embarking on the trip to Cape Point and the Chapman Peak Drive. Great little harbour with what seemed like a leisure marina on one side and a working fishing port on the other. We visited on a Friday morning and thee was a fair size craft market on the quay side, full of the usual carved... More

Loved the high mountain drive to get to Hout Bay! Loved the fish. My American husband says it's the best lobster he has ever eaten.

A beautiful little place nestled between the mountains. Friendly people and good service all around. Take a trip through the town and then go to Mariners Wharf and have a bite to eat
