Groot Constantia is South Africa's oldest wine producing estate, (est: 1685). Situated 20 minutes from Cape Town central and one of the Big 6 tourist destinations, Groot Constantia is a must visit. With two fine restaurants, Jonkershuis and Simon's (contact details on website), wine tastings, chocolate and wine pairing, cellar tours and a museum that reminds one of a bygone era, this beautiful historic winery is a popular attraction.

Delightful property where we were able to enjoy a super lunch with family and friends. Staff were really great and helped well with recommendation of both food and wine. Adults enjoyed the warmth indoors whilst kids enjoyed the lawns and grounds outside. Amazing setting and is a must if you are in the area

The oldest wine farm in the Cape is the most accessible too. It is a magnificent outing with great examples of historic architecture and art being preserved. The museum is well worth the minimal fee. The gardens and views are beautiful. Jonkershuis serves delicious dishes – do reserve a table. Boela Gerber’s wines are world class. Not to be missed!

We did a self-guided tour and then joined a tasting where we sampled five incredible wines. The history is rich here and it is worth visiting if you enjoy wine and its culture.

We have been there for a lunch break and a wine tasting session. The place I think is very fascinating, the oldest harvest in South Africa, very well organised, clean and in a perfect state of art. Lunch was very good, steak perfect. Regarding wine instead, unfortunately I haven't found impressive quality of wine, except ( of course) for the... More

Lovely wines paired with great chocolates. They even had Fairview cheeses for the non drinkers and children.

Groot Constantia is a historically relevant farm that must be visited. The farm is situated in one of the oldest areas known for wine production, and therefore is historically relevant for any enthusiast. There are two restaurants on the property, however I must say that the three times we have visited, we have not been able to secure space at... More

Groot Constania is a wonderful place not only for their wines but also because it is the oldest winery in South Africa. The wines were very good and the tasting that my wife and I did was definitely reasonably priced. The staff was friendly and knew their wine. The grounds of the winery are also well maintained. I would recommend... More

The drive through some of the most beautiful parts of Cape Town is reward in itself for visiting this place. The grounds are beautiful and once again the people there are excellent. The main buildings are clean and there is an excellent history board of the wine growing, family and main events at this vineyard. We had a light meal... More

Great stop in the Constantia Wine Valley. Great tastings - well priced and friendly staff. Stunning Venue. Go to Simons Restaurant on the estate after for dinner. Absolutely delicious. And the Cape Town Rooftop bus tour stops here which is a bonus if you are a tourist.
