Drove in for an afternoon visit, and immediately came upon a number of kudu, blesbok, and hartebeest, with warthogs and Meer cats dashing across the road in front of me. The real encounters were with the rhino, buffalo, wildebeest and giraffe. It was as though I had the whole 5,00 hectares to myself. Conditions were perfect for game viewing, and... More

We enjoyed a very economical and self guided game drive here. We saw many zebra, and giraffe, kudu and springbok, warthog and two rhinos! Wildebeest too. We even went in our Mazda 5 that is low to the ground and had no problems. If you are in Mafikeng, its is a small park but a great place to take visitors... More

The Mafikeng Game Reserve was a fun experience to see animals like giraffe and rhinos. You drive your own vehicle through the park so make sure you have someone who is good at spotting the animals, not that they are hiding, but it can be easy to miss them in plain sight.

After an afternoon appointment had just an hour in Mafikeng to explore the game reserve before sundown. Well worth it - good map with an accurate indication of what to expect to see - and not disappointed. Within a matter of minutes had logged rhino (mother and baby) up close and personal. Wow! Although for me thy were the stars... More

This reserve is a must do for us whenever we are in Mafikeng, a town not otherwise hugely renowned for its vibrant and burgeoning tourist industry. The park is relatively small but is pretty well laid out with good dirt roads, friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. The Reserve is also inexpensive, a nice change in a country where the... More

Went on a mid-morning game drive. Loved seeing the rhinos, blue wildebeests, giraffes, zebras and other wildlife. The roads are very nice and probably even a sedan would be fine. 4x4 is not necessary. They were probably the nicest roads of any game drive I have been on. Our only complaint, which is minor, is that it is mainly a... More

This is a great small game park, we went in the last afternoon and we saw and photographed a good number of animals. Locating the entrance is tricky as the brown signs are misleading and the impressive entrance gate close to the Mafikeng information centre which has the Game Park sign on it, is not in fact the entrance!

The game reserve is hard to find with no signs to the entrance located out of town through a residential area. However we sawa a good selection of game close up including White Rhino, Gemsbok, Giraffe, Kudo, Zebra and Impala. A very pleasent Braai and Picnic area in the middle of the park makes a nice spot for a sundowner... More

We booked for one night and didnt want to leave! An amazing unfenced campsite in the middle of the game reserve just 3 km out of Mafikeng. Clean ablutions, electrified points and water taps with campsites under trees. We never needed to leave our site for game viewing although we did take a trip to the Komala dam one evening... More
