The park is situated in an ancient volcano which makes the landscapes amazing. It is not too big but big enough at the same time. Anyone is allowed to go in with their own car and drive around, as long as they pay the fee at the gate (which I believe is not that high). We are not allowed to... More

Pilanesberg Game Reserve needs urgent attention to its tar roads, or should I say what is left of some tar roads. Since my last visit in January 2011 the Pilanesberg Centre in the park has all but closed down, leaving only ablution facilities, which are in need of a good clean, fittings, electricity etc. Where is the maintenance of this... Pilanesberg Game Reserve is only about two hours from where I live. I have made many trips at different times of the year, sometimes camping some time staying at one of the very comfortable chalets. I have made a video called "Secrets of Pilanesberg" and some extracts can be viewed on YouTube thespronks. Any one interested can look at "Snakes... More

a lot of animals; elephants, lions, a few african wild dogs (very rare). Rhino (white). It is fantastic to drive around. The landscape is so beautiful. In weekends there are a lot of visitors (it is not far from Pretoria) During weekdays it is quiet. There is a good visitor's centre, with a restaurant. regards schliek. More

We enjoyed our self-drive safari in this big park. It was a rainy day so we only saw one of the big five - a lone rhino. But we also saw giraffe, ostrich, hippos, zebra, jackals and many different birds. Worth the trip. More

We took an early Saturday morning tour to Pilanesberg. It was awesome to see the animals in the wild. We were able see about three of the Big 5 during this visit. It's more enjoyable with a tour guide who knows the routes and all the restroom stops. Saw numerous kinds of animals such as wild dogs, wildebeest, zebras, giraffes,... More

I booked a day trip from Midrand with Adventuretravelafrica. We left at 4am to get to the gates as they opened at 6am. At 6.01 and I saw a hyena and then lions feeding at 6.15am. By mid morning we'd seen elephants galore, a dozen giraffe and then rhino as well as countless deer and gazelles. The whole day was... More

I am very often on business in Rustenburg (North West Province) and all the time i am here I am using Saturday early morning to do a game drive. If you enter the game park early in the morning 5:30 or 6:00 (it depends on the season) you are almost on your own and you see the animal life awakjing... More
