We visited this relatively new National Park on a day trip from Marrick Safari Camp. Mokala is a large reserve with incredibly beautiful savanna grassland in its corners and rocky terrain in the center. We took the affordable private safari from the most southern camp and asked the rancher to look specially for the parks famous Black Wildebeest, Roan Antelope,... More

It's sad to report Mokala seems to be on the decline as far as several key aspects are concerned. So much so that we cut short our intended stay there in December and virtually fled from Mosu Lodge. Mosu eems to lack any management and control. The main gate was unmanned when we arrived so we could not provide the... More

Mokala is a well managed reserve specialising in endangered species - the game is accessible and safe. Many of the roads have recently been upgraded making virtually the whole reserve accessible to person in a 'city' car. Management of the restaurant has changed but the quality of the food is good at a fair price

We should have stayed longer. The facilities are great. The birding and game viewing were refreshing. should have stayed longer.

This was our 4th visit to the little gem of Mokala. Sanparks proclaimed the park to breed with rare endangered species, so there are no lion or cheetah. However, the abundance of antelope and birds more than compensates for this. It poses beautiful landscapes, amongst lovely Camelthorn trees and Umbrella thorns. At the moment it is extremely dry and a... More

On a recent visit I wad horrified to find that the access roads to both Mosu lodge side and Lillydale camp were in absolutely appalling condition. We passed a vehicle with a trailer with a broken axle on the way into Mosu. With the exception of a few km of road around Mosu lodge the roads in the park were... More

This lovely, smaller national park is a fantastic place to spot antelope as well as giraffe and zebra. The park spans two vegetation zones with the grassy plains of the Vaalbos loop best for Buffalo, Roan antelope and Black Wildebeest. The Camelthorn scrublands provided the best sightings of Giraffe. Don't miss the interpretive centre and the Stofdam bird hide. Allow... More

Arrived at Mokala just outside Kimberley. What a great park. Got a chalet with a view of a waterhole. No need to drive around. Which is great after being behind the wheel for eight hours! The park is clean and well managed. The restaurant is good, but not great. Normal SANPARKS fare. The service at reception is great, apart from... More

Beautiful setting although very dry during our visit - in serious need of rain. Vast grasslands and open spaces with easy viewing of all the major buck species including the gracious Sable. Had an awesome, excellent value for money breakfast in the Lillydale Restaurant.
