Birds, crocs and hippos

This is a superb place for viewing waterfowl of all types, many crocodiles and hippos. Be sure to take the water tour with the Advantage group to get up close to the hippos.

We took a 2 hour Advantage Cruiser boat trip on the estuary. It was a very windy and cool day, somewhat overcast. Nevertheless the crew found 4 pods of hippos. Being on board a ship and many feet above the water was a great vantage point for hippo photographs. The crew was amazing at locating wildlife; they saw a 3... More

Take a hippo & croc tour & learn about the estuary which has been landlocked the last few years due to drought.

Just slightly north east of St Lucia you will find the Cape Vidal. It is within the park and about 30Kms from the park entrance. Cape Vidal is a small area which has a parking and a few facilities which are used by the locals and a few tourists. The locals come here to fish or use the beach.... The... More

We took a 2 hour boat tour and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Dozens of hippos, some crocodiles, great birdlife etc. And Saint Lucia is worth a lookaround

Offers a nice balance to the inland Safari. A chance to go to the beach, kayak with crocs, see a different environment to Kruger but still with most of the animals found in other park.

Be sure to take the hippo and crocodile cruise, which you board at Sunset Jetty. It's a two hour cruise and wasn't expecting to see so many hippos and crocodiles up close! It's also not very expensive. Well worth it!
